Door het contact met burgers wordt het duidelijk voor Tweede Kamerleden in Den Haag wat er leeft en speelt in de rest van Nederland. Toch verloopt het contact tussen Kamerleden en burgers vaak moeizaam. Om te kijken waar de knelpunten liggen, hebben Wallaart & Kusse Public Affairs en Open State Foundation onderzocht hoe bereikbaar Tweede Kamerleden zijn en hoe de burger met hen in contact kan komen. Dit is van belang, omdat bereikbaarheid van Kamerleden en de mogelijkheid om in gesprek te gaan met politici bijdraagt aan het verkleinen van de kloof tussen de burger en Kamerleden. Door middel van een survey vroegen we Kamerleden onder andere naar wat zij verstaan onder bereikbaarheid, hoe vaak zij benaderd worden en of ze hier binnen hun eigen fractie afspraken over hebben gemaakt. Naast de enquête hebben we onderzocht welke gegevens de Tweede Kamerfracties online hebben staan die burgers kunnen raadplegen om input te leveren. Hiermee poogden we te achterhalen of partijen in de praktijk daadwerkelijk goed benaderbaar zijn voor burgers.

    Bijlage 1: Verzoek Kamerleden aan de verantwoordelijke ministers om met Femmes for Freedom samen te werken en draagvlak voor de ideeën van Femmes for Freedom Kamerstuk 32175 nr. 70 Brief van de staatssecretaris van Volksgezondheid, Welzijn en Sport en de minister voor Rechtsbescherming op 18 maart 20211 Pharos ontwikkelt met betrokken partijen bij de actieagenda, zoals het Landelijk Knooppunt Huwelijksdwang en Achterlating (hierna: LKHA), de Federatie van Somalische Associaties Nederland (hierna: FSAN), Movisie en Femmes for Freedom en kleine (zelf)organisaties die deel uitmaken van de gemeenschappen, een brede voorlichtingscampagne over de verschillende vormen van schadelijke praktijken. Pharos zorgt voor coördinatie, samenhang en afstemming tussen de betrokken partijen. Voor deze aanpak is gekozen om (potentiële) slachtoffers, professionals en omstanders gericht te kunnen bereiken. Met deze voorlichtingscampagne geven we samen met de Minister van SZW ook invulling aan de motie van het lid Peters (CDA)5 waarin de regering wordt opgeroepen om Femmes for Freedom te betrekken bij de beleidsvorming en uitvoering. Voortbouwen op eerder ingezet beleid (zie het Actieplan Zelfbeschikking 2015–2017)16 gericht op de bevordering van mentaliteitsverandering. In aansluiting op de drie eerdergenoemde projecten gericht op de bevordering van het recht op zelfbeschikking gaat SZW samen met OCW en partijen gericht op verandering van binnenuit – zoals de partijen uit de Alliantie Verandering van Binnenuit en Femmes for Freedom – verkennen of er witte vlekken in de aanpak zijn en waar versteviging mogelijk is. SZW zet hierbij in op aanpakken die bewezen effectief zijn of waarvan we de effectiviteit aan kunnen tonen. Hiermee wordt ook invulling gegeven aan een eerdere toezegging van de Minister van SZW om met gemeenschappen in overleg te gaan over vrouwelijke genitale verminking dat één van de uitingen kan zijn van eergerelateerd geweld.

    Personalization of political newspaper coverage: a longitudinal study in the Dutch context since 1950 Ellis Aizenberg, Wouter van Atteveldt, Chantal van Son, Franz-Xaver Geiger VU University, Amsterdam This study analyses whether personalization in Dutch political newspaper coverage has increased since 1950. In spite of the assumption that personalization increased over time in The Netherlands, earlier studies on this phenomenon in the Dutch context led to a scattered image. Through automatic and manual content analyses and regression analyses this study shows that personalization did increase in The Netherlands during the last century, the changes toward that increase however, occurred earlier on than expected at first. This study also shows that the focus of reporting on politics is increasingly put on the politician as an individual, the coverage in which these politicians are mentioned however became more substantive and politically relevant. Keywords: Personalization, content analysis, political news coverage, individualization, privatization Introduction When personalization occurs a focus is put on politicians and party leaders as individuals. The context of the news coverage in which they are mentioned becomes more private as their love lives, upbringing, hobbies and characteristics of personal nature seem increasingly thoroughly discussed. An article published in 1984 in the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf forms a good example here, where a horse race betting event, which is attended by several ministers accompanied by their wives and girlfriends is carefully discussed1. Nowadays personalization is a much-discussed phenomenon in the field of political communication.     The political influence of pro-EU and anti-EU parties in the Netherlands on EU standpoints of the Dutch government by Ramon Melis S2393158 [email protected] Submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Science, program European Studies, University of Twente Year 2021 Supervisors: Shawn Donnelly Martin Rosema Abstract In the past decade, the Dutch government has changed their standpoints regarding the EU many times. In this research three topics, the migration crisis, violations of the rule of law, and solidarity between EU member states, have been researched in order to see if the Dutch government’s standpoints towards them have changed as a result of the influence of pro-EU and/or anti-EU political parties in the last 10 years. The phenomenon of catch-all parties, can be seen as the underlying theory throughout the whole research, explaining why changes in government standpoints have been made. According to the theory, catch-all parties moderate their ideological standpoints in order to be attractive to the majority of voters that often feel comfortable in the middle of the political spectrum. In this case, this applies to political parties that are part of the government coalitions in the Netherlands that change standpoints as a result of influence of pro-EU and anti-EU parties, in order to maintain their relationship with the majority of the voters. To illustrate this, the report contains overviews of changing standpoints of the past three Dutch governments and overviews of the standpoints of different political parties in the shape of scales, in order to make it easier to compare standpoints with each other.
