Special Delivery is £8.00. Europe £5.00 for 1st record ( 50p each additional record ) USA £6.00 (approx $9 US ) for 1st record ( then 50p per record) Rest Of The World £6.00 for 1st record (then 50p per record). We accept most major credit cards. MIN BID AUCTION A DIANE LEWIS WITHOUT YOUR LOVE WAND 1191 D VG++ 300 By far the rarer of Diane’s two releases on the famous logo. This is Pat Lewis’ sister on a great piece of Detroit produced by Herman Griffin. If you don’t know it check the soundbite. Flipside is a version of the song ‘Giving Up’ released by the players on Columbia then withdrawn due to the name and released as the Twenty Grands. B WILLIAM BRANCH SMILING EYES RAINBOW 203 M- 150 The original 1978 release of this neat happy-go-lucky mover has seemingly VANISHED – check out all the usual internet sources for verification of that statement. Yes the synth-ridden, nowhere-near-as-good 1986 update on Zip can be located, but not the superior original. C THE VIBRATIONS CAUSE YOU’RE MINE EPIC 10418 M- 225 Northern Soul that speaks for itself surely? The fact remains that whenever we set-sale this one the emails and calls to buy it are many and various, so here’s the opportunity to obtain it at your leisure. D BONNIE GRAHAM I NEED YOU SURE SHOT 101 WD VG++ 200 Investigations have found this top-notch R&B mover to be in nowheresville. And we are sure that many will not have heard it. Apparently really called Lavern Buckner, check out the soundbite. E HOMER BANKS SWEETIE PIE GENIE 101 M- 500 His first record on a tiny Memphis independent is somewhat removed from his raucous southern groovers on Minit, being a fabulous, mellow midtempo track. 30 years ago we had a handful of copies and have never seen one since. Certified as very rare and very good for sure. F TOBI LEGEND TIME WILL PASS YOU BY MALA 591 M- 410 Obviously another 45 that brings on the requests when we set-sale a copy. Perhaps here a more democratic alternative way, but also a 1 second cue-burn on intro that you should hear. Nowt’ to write home about, but nonetheless it’s there. G SIR GUY LET HOME CROSS YOUR DPG 102 M- 220 MIND Is it funk? Is it Modern? Well both probably and arguably this Virginia singers finest moment. On George Perkins’ label, the artist was born as Clarence Barron and had a career of half a dozen or so 45s- none better than this one. H BETTY LLOYD I’M CATCHING ON BSC 401 M- 510 Basically a one-box, one-time find, with precious few copies ever emerging outside of the clutch located 25 years ago. For a while that stopped spins but demand has surged for the 45 ever since. I BEVERLY SAVAGE HOW CAN YOU FACE THE TORNADO 1007 M- 500 WORLD A 1966 rarity that turned up first in the mid-seventies, was played a few times and then forgotten. Reason? Basically it has always been very scarce. Three years ago a copy went for over a thousand dollars on EBay, it was not only knackered but the last one offered for sale. J CHANTERS WHAT ARE YOU DOIN’ SSP 1002 VG++ 266 Like the previous record this one has been around for a long time without copies turning up. The group’s older recordings (the group was from the Queens area of New York) are cherished by doo-wop collectors and therefore any copies of this one may have been hoovered up before the Northern scene found it. HOWEVER, both sides are firmly in Sixties Soul territory and this 45 was their swansong prior to the group breaking up in ’66. NEW CANNONBALL 45 RELEASE! After the success earlier this year from the Italian boys, in the name of ‘Big Lee Dowell’, here is the latest 45 to be released – JONES & GASTON AND THE CANNONBALLS – ‘Do You Get The Message’. (A version of The Grey Imprint track). LIMITED STOCK - £25.00 PLUS £2.00 UK Post, £4.00 EUROPE, £5 REST OF WORLD. SECOND PAGE FOCUS 1 ROSCOE ROBINSON HOW MUCH PRESSURE WAND 1143 M- 15 From the same stable as ‘That’s Enough’ but with a bit of a harder edge. 2 JAMO THOMAS ARREST ME THOMAS 8827 M- 15 Same groove as ‘I Spy’, a little more pace. 3 WESTMORLAND & CO. THIS AIN’T LIVING VANESSA 13 M- 15 Great piece of early seventies soul, a bit punchier than crossover but too early to refer to as modern. 4 J. J. BARNES EVERYTIME I SEE YOU, I GO HIP CITY SOUL M- 20 WILD CLUB 4 Literally the last few copies out of over 200 issued only in this format (ie a 45) in Germany, same goes for Rita Wright ‘Where Is The Love’ on the flipside. 5 LEE ROGERS MY ONE AND ONLY D-TOWN 1062 M- 15 A bit of 1966 Detroit excellence – still only this price! 6 BOBBY FREEMAN S-W-I-M AUTUMN 5 M- 10 Old Twisted Wheel biggie – get yourself a minter! 7 JOE SIMON DON’T LET ME LOSE THE SOUND STAGE M- 15 FEELING 2634 Yet another gem on this label from a guy whose sixties material is under-rated indeed. 8 THE PLATTERS FEAR OF LOSING YOU MUSICOR 1341 M- 15 Some of these Platters records from the mid-sixties are SIMPLY THE BUSINESS! 9 THE NATURAL THE DEVIL MADE ME DO IT CHESS 2119 M- 10 FOUR Massive at Wigan in late ’74. 10 TED TAYLOR HOW DO YOU WALK AWAY RONN 57 M- 10 FROM FEAR Excellent funky – edged early 70s from this great singer. Blues, as a musical form, has had and continues to have a profound effect on the entire music industry, both in the United States and abroad. Blues constitute a rich cultural entity in its pure form; but its influence goes far beyond this-for itis the bedrock of jazz, the basis of much of folk and country music and it is closely akin to gospel. But finally and most importantly, blues and its derivatives- and the concept of soul-are major factors in today's pop music. In fact, it is no exaggeration to state flatly that blues, a truly American idiom, is the most pervasive element in American music COVER PHOTO today. Ray Charles symbolizes the World Therefore we have embarked on this study of blues.
