Bunlar; S. adanaensis, S. anatolicus, S. aristotelis, S. berak, S. cappadocicus, S. carinus, S. cephaloides, S. cephalus, S. cii, S. fellowesii, S. kosswigi, S. kottelati, S. lepidus, S. orientalis, S. orpheus, S. pursakensis, S. recurvirostris, S. seyhanensis, S. semae ve S. turcicus türleridir. 2019, 135 sayfa Anahtar Kelimeler: Balık Faunası, Sistematik, Yeni Kayıt, Talı Su Kefali, Squalius III ABSTRACT TAXONOMIC REVISION OF GENUS SQUALIUS DISTRIBUTING IN TURKEY Esra BAYÇELEBİ Recep Tayyip Erdogan University Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences Department of Fisheries Ph. D. Thesis Supervisor: Prof. Dr. Davut TURAN In this study, species belonging to the genus Squalis have been investigated in terms of taxonomy in Turkey. Although there have been studies carried out in various basins, no explicit revision has previously been performed. Therefore, this study is of importance for the freshwater fauna of Turkey. According to the results of this study, there are 20 species distributes in Turkey. These are: S. adanaensis, S. anatolicus, S. aristotelis, S. berak, S. cappadocicus, S. carinus, S. cephaloides, S. cephalus, S. cii, S. fellowesii, S. kosswigi, S. kottelati, S. lepidus, S. orientalis, S. orpheus, S. pursakensis, S. recurvirostris, S. seyhanensis, S. semae and S. turcicus. In this study, species of chub belongs to Aquatic organisms collection of Recep Tayyip Erdogan University, Faculty of Fisheries and Aquatic Science department and specimens collected throughout the fieldwork took place between 2015-2017 from entire Turkey have been compared morphologically. Additionally, this study constitutes the first record of S. agdamicus in freshwater fish fauna in Turkey. Furthermore, stream Bolu populations and Kızılırmak-Yesilırmak populations are morphologically different from each other and also from the other species distributing in Turkey, thus both populations are considered to be new species that have not been identified yet. 2019, 135 pages Keywords: Fish Fauna, Systematic, New Record, Chub, Squalius IV İÇİNDEKİLER ÖNSÖZ ......................................................................................................................... Since the work of J.J. Heckel (1846-1849), the number of valid species has increased significantly and the systematic status of many of the species has changed, and reorganization and updating of the published information has become essential. Here we take the opportunity to provide a new and updated checklist of freshwater fishes of Iran based on literature and taxon occurrence data obtained from natural history and new fish collections. This article lists 288 species in 107 genera, 28 families, 22 orders and 3 classes reported from different Iranian basins. However, presence of 23 reported species in Iranian waters needs confirmation by specimens.

The parasitic fauna included two myzozoans, one choanozoan, seven ciliophorans, 24 myxozoans, eight trematodes, 34 monogeneans, 12 cestodes, 11 nematodes, five acanthocephalans, two annelids and nine crustaceans. The infection with some trematodes and nematodes occurred with larval stages, while the remaining infections were either with trophozoites or adult parasites. Among the inspected fishes, Cyprinion macrostomum was infected with the highest number of parasite species (29 parasite species), followed by Carasobarbus luteus (26 species) and Arabibarbus grypus (22 species) while six fish species (Alburnus caeruleus, A. sellal, Barbus lacerta, Cyprinion kais, Hemigrammocapoeta elegans and Mastacembelus mastacembelus) were infected with only one parasite species each. The myxozoan Myxobolus oviformis was the commonest parasite species as it was reported from 10 fish species, followed by both the myxozoan M. pfeifferi and the trematode Ascocotyle coleostoma which were reported from eight fish host species each and then by both the cestode Schyzocotyle acheilognathi and the nematode Contracaecum sp.

In 59 specimens of Sq.orpheus, four specimens of intestinal helminths are fixed (Allocreadium isoporum (Kowal et Kulakowskaja, 1957); Caryophyllaeus brachycollis (Janiszewska, 1951); Pomphorhynchus laevis (Müller, 1776); Rhabdochona denudata (Dujardin, 1845)). P. laevis is distinguished with the highest prevalence and mean intensity (66.10% and 1.85, respectively). A. isoporum, P. laevis and Rh. denudata are core species for the helminth communities of Orpheus dace, while C. brachycollis is a component species. The eutrophication effects on the pathways of the parasitic flow and the structure of the helminth communities were traced. The bioindicator significance of the parasitic complexes was discussed. • The Phylogenetic Relationships and Species Richness of Host-Specific Dactylogyrus Parasites Shaped by the Biogeography of Balkan
www.nature.com/scientificreports OPEN The phylogenetic relationships and species richness of host-specifc Dactylogyrus parasites shaped Received: 23 February 2018 Accepted: 17 August 2018 by the biogeography of Balkan Published: xx xx xxxx cyprinids Michal Benovics1, Yves Desdevises2, Jasna Vukić3, Radek Šanda4 & Andrea Šimková1 Parasites exhibiting a high degree of host specifcity are expected to be intimately associated with their hosts. Therefore, the evolution of host-specifc parasites is at least partially shaped by the evolutionary history and distribution of such hosts. Gill ectoparasites of Dactylogyrus (Monogenea) are specifc to cyprinid fsh. In the present study, we investigated the evolutionary history of 47 Dactylogyrus species from the Balkan Peninsula, the Mediteranean region exhibiting the highest cyprinid diversity in Europe, and from central European cyprinids. Phylogenetic analyses revealed four well-supported clades of endemic and non-endemic Dactylogyrus spp. with four basal taxa. Endemic cyprinids with a limited distribution range were parasitized by endemic Dactylogyrus species, but some of them shared several Dactylogyrus species with central European cyprinids. Species delimitation analyses based on molecular data suggest that Dactylogyrus diversity is higher than that defned from morphology. Some endemic cyprinid species harboured Dactylogyrus species of diferent origins, this probably resulting from multiple host switching. Our results support the view that the evolution of Dactylogyrus in the Balkans has been infuenced not only by the historical dispersion and distribution of their cyprinid hosts, but also by recent contacts of non-native cyprinid species with endemic cyprinid fauna in this region. Te species richness of parasitic taxa and their distribution in host species is usually closely related to the history, dispersion and diversity of their hosts1–3.

  • Minnows and Molecules: Resolving the Broad and Fine-Scale Evolutionary Patterns of Cypriniformes
Minnows and molecules: resolving the broad and fine-scale evolutionary patterns of Cypriniformes by Carla Cristina Stout A dissertation submitted to the Graduate Faculty of Auburn University in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy Auburn, Alabama May 7, 2017 Keywords: fish, phylogenomics, population genetics, Leuciscidae, sequence capture Approved by Jonathan W. Armbruster, Chair, Professor of Biological Sciences and Curator of Fishes Jason E. Bond, Professor and Department Chair of Biological Sciences Scott R. Santos, Professor of Biological Sciences Eric Peatman, Associate Professor of Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Aquatic Sciences Abstract Cypriniformes (minnows, carps, loaches, and suckers) is the largest group of freshwater fishes in the world. Despite much attention, previous attempts to elucidate relationships using molecular and morphological characters have been incongruent. The goal of this dissertation is to provide robust support for relationships at various taxonomic levels within Cypriniformes. For the entire order, an anchored hybrid enrichment approach was used to resolve relationships. This resulted in a phylogeny that is largely congruent with previous multilocus phylogenies, but has much stronger support. For members of Leuciscidae, the relationships established using anchored hybrid enrichment were used to estimate divergence times in an attempt to make inferences about their biogeographic history. The predominant lineage of the leuciscids in North America were determined to have entered North America through Beringia ~37 million years ago while the ancestor of the Golden Shiner (Notemigonus crysoleucas) entered ~20–6 million years ago, likely from Europe. Within Leuciscidae, the shiner clade represents genera with much historical taxonomic turbidity. Targeted sequence capture was used to establish relationships in order to inform taxonomic revisions for the clade.

The current status of the inland waters ichthyofauna of Turkey is revised, and an updated checklist of the freshwater fishes is presented. A total of 368 fish species live in the inland waters of Turkey. Among these, 3 species are globally extinct, 5 species are extinct in Turkey, 28 species are non-native and 153 species are considered as endemic to Turkey. We recognise pronounced species richness and a high degree of endemism of the Turkish ichthyofauna (41.58%). Orders with the largest numbers of species in the ichthyofauna of Turkey are the Cypriniformes 247 species), Perciformes (43 species), Salmoniformes (21 species), Cyprinodontiformes (15 species), Siluriformes (10 species), Acipenseriformes (8 species) and Clupeiformes (8 species). At the family level, the Cyprinidae has the greatest number of species (188 species; 51.1% of the total species), followed by the Nemacheilidae (39), Salmonidae (21 species), Cobitidae (20 species), Gobiidae (18 species) and Cyprinodontidea (14 species).
