    Wisconsin Wild Alumnae Newsletter Weeks of January 5 and 12, 2009 Marie-Michelle Poirier named WCHA Rookie of the Week (adapted from a UND website article) University of North Dakota freshman forward and Wisconsin Wild alumna Marie-Michelle Poirier was named the WCHA Rookie Player of the Week on January 7th for her performances at the Easton Showcase in St. Cloud, Minn., against Rensselaer and Wayne State. A sophomore in her first year of eligibility at UND, Marie scored both regulation goals in the Fighting Sioux's 3-2 overtime victory over Rensselaer last Friday. Marie scored her two goals on three shots, answering both Rensselaer goals and forcing overtime. Her goal at 13:26 of the first period was shorthanded and tied the game at 1-1 while her sixth goal of the season came in the third period with just 2:35 left in regulation and knotted the score at 2-2. The Sioux then went on to win 3-2 in overtime just 29 seconds into the extra session. On the season, Marie is sixth in scoring among her UND teammates with six goals, six assists and 12 points while playing in all 20 games to date. Last two weeks’ game results: Tuesday, December 30 Providence College 1, Yale University 2 Sarah Tittman (Yale) was a starter and took a shot in the game. Sarah was injured late in the second period of the game and unable to return. Dartmouth College 4, University of Vermont 1 Sue Schmitz (Dartmouth) was +1, in the game. Friday, January 2 Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute 2, University of North Dakota 3 (ot) (Easton Showcase) Marie-Michelle Poirier (North Dakota) scored two goals, including a short- hander, and took 3 shots in the game.
