The native of Manville, RI, graduated with a bachelor of science Head Coach degree in business administration, management from UConn in 1995 and followed that with a master of arts degree in sport Connecticut 1995 management in 1999 also at the Storrs campus. Second Season Belisle currently resides in Cumberland, RI with his wife, Carrie and their new baby girl, Madeleine.

Head Coach Peter Belisle enters his second season at UMass Boston after a first year that saw him direct the Beacons to its highest win total in seven years. The Belisle File

Jeff Pellegrini returns for his second year at UMass Boston. Pellegrini was a dominant player in the IJHL and was named the league’s Most Valuable Player three times as well as being named a three-time Defenseman of the Year honoree.

The 2000-01 school year marked the department’s first year as a member of the NCAA’s CHAMPS/Life Skills program. Presently, 323 institutions and six conference offices now participate in this NCAA supported life skills program. The NCAA mission of CHAMPS/Life Skills is “committed to a comprehensive program that provides educational experience and services in order to develop well balanced lifestyles for student-athletes; to encourage growth in decision making, planning and fulfillment of career and life goals.”

The CHAMPS/Life Skills program will be presented this year at UMB through the development of workshops/guest speakers that address identified life skill needs in the five commitment areas of this program.

As part of our membership in CHAMPS/Life Skills, each year one of four student athlete nominees will attend the NCAA Foundation Leadership Conference.

UMass Boston fans will remember Scott Duffy’s double-overtime goal against eventual national champion Babson in the 1983 championship game and Mike Snuggs’ 32-save shutout in 1997 to help return the bowl to the Harbor Campus. Ryan Equale of Connecticut ended the longest game in tournament history when he scored with seven seconds remaining in double overtime to give the Huskies their first title. And who can forget the 1986 tournament, in which all four games were decided in overtime.
