Thom Cartmill 1962 4-1-0 .800 Bob Goodwin 1963-1989 202-138-32 .543 Bob Durocher 1990-2014 323-101-45 .736 Mike Toshack 2015- 53-26-10 .635 Program Record: 583-265-87 .670 HEAD COACH MIKE TOSHACK THE TOSHACK FILE: Mike Toshack took over as the fourth head coach in program history in 2015 and helped the Saints advance to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament during his first season at the helm. To date he has coached 24 All-Conference players, three Regional All-Americans and two All-America’s. Toshack was named Liberty League Coach of the Year in 2018. A former assistant for the Saints, Toshack served under Bob Durocher from 1994 until 2003 and was a mem- ber of the coaching staff for the 22-0-0 national championship team. Saint teams went 115-20-11 during his tenure as goalkeeper coach and had a 60-game unbeaten streak. Prior to returning to St. Lawrence, Toshack spent eight seasons as a goalkeeper coach in MLS with the Houston Dynamo, Toronto FC and the Portland Timbers, and was a part of two MLS Cup Championship teams. He also coached in the 2001 FIFA Youth World Championship, coached the U20 Canadian Men’s National Team and began his professional soccer coach career with the Montreal Impact of the United Soccer League (USL). BOB DUROCHER Bob Durocher took over as head coach in 1990 and quickly estab- COACH DUROCHER’S lished his program as one of the best in the nation. He compiled HONORS THROUGH THE more than 300 wins in his 25-year tenure as head coach before being YEARS named St. Lawrence’s Director of Athletics and Recreation in 2015. 1999 NSCAA/Adidas Durocher was named the 1999 NCAA Division III Coach of the Year, coached 22 individual national All-Americans, including the 1999 NCAA Div. III Coach of the Year NCAA Division III Player of the Year Danny Annan, Jr. and 86 regional All-Ameri- cans. He earned seven Northeast Regional Coach of the Year honors and 12 Confer- Northeast Regional ence Coach of the Year awards, including six in a row from 1994 to 1999. Coach of the Year ’98, ’99, ’01, ’02, ’10, ’11, ’13 Coach Durocher’s teams were ranked in the final national poll in 14 seasons since 1998, including top five rankings in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2010 and 2011. Conference Coach of the Year He led the Saints to nine straight NCAA Tournament appearances from 1998 to 2006 ’94, ’95, ’96, ’97, ’98, ’99, ’01, and was the first coach in conference history to win “the double” as both the Liberty ’04, ’07, ’10, ’11, ’13 League regular season and tournament champions in 2008, and then again in back- to-back seasons in 2013 and 2014. BOB GOODWIN Bob Goodwin had a long and distinguished career as a member of the Saint athletic department that included coaching six other sports prior to his retirement in 1990. The first St. Lawrence coach to win championships in each of the three seasons in a single year, his primary coaching assignments were soccer and track and field. “Goody” won 202 soccer games and nine conference championships in his career while leading his teams to two NCAA appearances and two ECAC titles in 1977 and 1978. He coached four national All America players during his tenure as soccer coach. A veteran of the Korean War and an honors graduate of Springfield College with a master’s degree from Brooklyn College, “Goody” joined the St. Lawrence staff in 1963 as its first varsity soccer coach. He also coached three seasons of men’s lacrosse and at various times in his career, as well as women’s skiing, women’s basketball and men’s freshman basketball.
