SUCCESS PROGRAM (SAASP) The goal of the Student-Athlete Academic Success Program (SAASP) is to assist student athletes to successfully navigate the college experience and become famil- iar with and able to access support services to enhance their progress towards an associates degree, bachelor’s degree or entry into the workforce .This will be achieved by the establishment of SAASP Advisor student athlete advisory teams to monitor and assist students . ACADEMIC SUCCESS IN 2017–18 Many student-athletes were honored for their academic achievements in the 2017–18 academic year . One student-athlete earned a scholarship to Mercyhurst University and one earned a scholarship to the University at Albany-SUNY . Another student earned a partial academic scholarship to Bryant University . Many others will be moving on to play sports at Division II and III schools . In May, 10 CCRI student-athletes and one alumnus (see photo) were recog- nized for their achievements during the Scholar-Athlete Awards Reception hosted by Speaker Nicholas A . Mattiello and the Rhode Island House of Representatives at the Rhode Island State House . These awards are given to exceptional student- 3 athletes who are leaders on and off the field and have demonstrated success in academics and athletics .
