Community School of Music and Arts Presents A Celebration of Charlie Parker performed by Peter & Will Anderson on August 28

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA – Community School of Music and Arts (CSMA) presents the first concert in our Fall 2021 Community Concert Series. Join Peter and Will Anderson for an in-person performance celebrating American jazz legend Charlie Parker on Saturday, August 28 at 7:30pm PDT. The event will also be livestreamed on CSMA’s YouTube channel.

Charlie Parker was a legendary Grammy Award-winning jazz saxophonist who, along with , invented the music style called bop or bebop. Though his life was brief and marred by tragedy, he changed the course of music and is considered one of the greatest jazz musicians of all time. Peter and Will Anderson fell in love with Parker’s music through recordings and over the years have been able to perform with musicians who played with Parker including Barry Harris, and Jimmy Cobb.

Identical twins Peter and Will Anderson are two of the most extraordinary jazz woodwind players today. Born and raised in Washington D.C., the Andersons moved to to attend The Juilliard School. They performed with the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Wycliffe Gordon, Cecile McLorin Salvant, Paquito D’Rivera, Wynton Marsalis and can be heard on the 2014 Grammy-winning soundtrack of HBO’s “Boardwalk Empire” with Vince Giordano’s Nighthawks. The Andersons have performed across the country, Brazil, Japan and the United Kingdom.

Peter and Will Anderson will also lead a free workshop where they will discuss jazz history, jazz improvisation and careers in music on Sunday, August 29 at 2:00pm in Tateuchi Hall. Students are encouraged to bring their own instruments. Read more about Peter and Will on our Arts4All blog.
