A funeral acknowledges that a life has been lived and gives the mourners an opportunity to remember and honor their loved one in a special way. It serves as a central gathering place for family and friends to give emotional support to one another. Most importantly, a funeral initiates a healthy grieving process.

Our services and commitment do not end with the funeral. We now provide our families an exquisite new program at Whispering Pines Funeral Home “Executors Advantage” at no cost to the family. Whispering Pines Funeral Home will complete Canada Pension Plan Forms, cancel health cards, drivers’ licenses, and firearm licenses to name a few. PROFESSIONAL & STAFF SERVICES

Basic professional fees $ 540.00 Professional consultation with licensed personnel, which may include but is not limited to, expert advice on options to meet your needs, including essential services relating to disposition, drafting notices, planning scheduling of services, advising regarding possible government benefits. A Basic professional fee is payable whenever we provide services to you.

*Co-ordinating rites and ceremonies Co-ordination of all rites and ceremonies, $ 485.00 before, during and after they have been provided, including services and supplies provided by us, as well as those provided by third party suppliers, such as flowers and death notices.

*Documentation – permits, forms, etc. $ 375.00 Completion and filing of all documents necessary to carry out the services and supplies requested, including, but not limited to, death registration, burial permit, coroner’s certificate for cremation, documentation necessary to ship the body out of the country, clergy record and church records.

Proof of Death Certificates are charged at a rate of $ 75.00 for 6 certificates

Basic care of remains (requires Facilities for preparation/embalming/shelter) $ 255.00  The preparation of the body for placement into the casket, including bathing, dressing and the setting of facial features for identification or viewing without embalming.

Embalming of remains $ 715.00  Embalming is the process of replacing blood and bodily fluids with chemical preservatives. It is a process of sanitation, restoration, and temporary preservation. Embalming is not legally required but may be recommended to preserve the body between the time of death and the visitation or disposition of the deceased. Our professional funeral directors will make a recommendation based on the condition of the body and expected service needs.  We suggest this service be utilized should the funeral be extended beyond 24 hours after the death. Your permission is required.

Staff services for visitation $ 325.00  Staff to coordinate and oversee the visitation (informal gathering) at our premises for a period up to 4 hours.  If the visitation takes place at an off-site location, an equipment charge (see below) and additional staff services charges will apply

Staff services for ceremony-onsite $ 325.00  Staff to coordinate and oversee the ceremony or memorial at our premises

*Staff Services for Reception There is no charge for the first staff member employed for a reception function, each additional staff member required is charged at a rate of $ 20.00 per hour with a two- hour minimum.

FACILITY CHARGES

Basic Facilities Use of our general and common areas, parking lot, public washrooms, cloakrooms, $ 485.00 heating, lighting and maintenance. This charge applies whenever we provide services to you.

Facilities for preparation/embalming/shelter $ 345.00  Facilities used to prepare, embalm, and/or shelter the body; this charge applies whenever the body is in our facility for any purpose. It also refers to the provision of a secured and specially designed area monitored by the Heath Department and set aside from public access, which affords dignified accommodation of the deceased.

*Facilities for visitation (requires Staff services for visitation) $ 380.00  Designated facilities used for visitation for (indicate period, e.g. up to 4 hours, for one morning/afternoon/evening/day or any part there of)  Minimum charge: $ 150.00 per hour of visitation

*Reception facilities $ 200.00  Use of facilities for a reception following the ceremony or memorial service, which includes the set up of the facilities, the use of the facilities and amenities  Coffee and Tea Service is Included and one Staff for 1.5 hours

Transportation and Vehicles

*Transport remains – basic (from place of death-Initial Transfer)  Transportation of the remains from one place to another, for example the hospital to our premises within 75 Km beyond 75 km mileage is charged at a rate of $ 1.85 per km one way only Using an Unmarked Van $ 275.00 Using a Funeral Coach/Hearse $ 425.00

*Additional staff service charge for removal from a residence or other non-institutional setting i.e. requiring a two staff removal $ 125.00

**Additional staff service charge for remains in excess of 300 lbs for each staff required $ 125.00

Catering services $ To be  Families are more than welcome to provide their own catering. If you wish we discussed can suggest or arrange the catering for you. Please feel free to discuss any of your requirements for catering with us.

Equipment for visitation at a remote location (off site equipment Charge)  Deliver, set up and use of equipment necessary for visitation or ceremony at a $ 150.00 location other than the funeral establishment.

Projector / Screen / Laptop for display of memorial slide shows $ 145.00

Additional Staff services for visitation $ 60.00 & Staff to coordinate and oversee the visitation (informal gathering) for a period which up exceeds the basic period selected ( $ 60.00 per hour per staff)

Grave Device, Setup, and Grass Covering for Earth Burial $ 175.00 The use of our Casket Lowering Device, Artificial Grass to cover Earth, including deliver and setup

*Removal of pacemaker or implant $ 150.00  The removal of a pacemaker or implant will be carried out by a licensed professional. Pacemakers must be removed prior to a Cremation

Professional restorative procedures ` To be  In some circumstances, additional restorative efforts beyond those captured in discussed the standard embalming procedure are necessary to enhance the appearance of the deceased. In such cases, the funeral director will discuss the available options and their cost. Professional restorative procedures will be charged at a rate of $ 75.00 per hour.

Scattering of cremated remains $ 50.00  We will scatter cremated remains in accordance with Ontario and municipal laws and by-laws on land. Fees for scattering from a plane or boat will be in addition to this charge and will be discussed upon request.

Visual Equipment $ 145.00 LCD monitor, projector as available to display memorial video; this fee is included in the purchase of a memorial video as it is required for the display of these products.

Hairdressing  The provision of a Licensed Hairstylist, additional fees may be applicable for $ 65.00 extra services such as permanents and hair colouring as required

Other Charges

Refundable Deposit for Cremated Remains $ 350.00  When human remains are to be cremated, a refundable deposit will be required to be paid. If the cremated remains are not claimed within one year of the cremation, the deposit may be used to inter the cremated remains in common ground. If the cremated remains are claimed before they are interred, the deposit will be refunded  A monthly storage fee of 25.00 may be charged for storage of cremated remains.

Disbursements

Disbursements are items arranged for and possibly paid for on your behalf by us. You are expected to pay for these items at the time the contract is entered into. The following are some items that are often identified as disbursements.

Coroner’s fee – this is a fee charged by the coroner for issuing a certificate that allows cremation to take place. The fee is set by the Chief Coroner for Ontario.

Clergy honorarium – this is an amount paid to the clergy for their services. In some cases, the amount is set by the clergy, in others it is an amount to be determined by you.

Newspaper or radio notices – these are charges for death notices placed in newspapers or radio or other media outlets.

Municipal death registration fee – this is a fee charged by the local municipality to register the death. The fee is set by the municipality and may vary.

Payment, financing and funding

We are proud to offer various payments, funding and financing options to our clients.

Payment

Unless otherwise specified, payment is due in full on arrangement and of signing the contract. Payment may be made by cash, or cheque, Payment plans are also available to meet most budgets. Financing charges apply to payment plans. Beyond the allotted time, interest will be charged at a rate of 1.5 % per month, which is equivalent to 18% per annum.

If you are prepaying for services or supplies, pre-authorized cheque is also available.

Funding

For your convenience, we offer two funding options when prepaying services or supplies. When prepaying, you pay for the services and supplies today, and the money will be used to pay for the services and supplies when they are delivered at the time of death.

Trust: You may pay the money directly to us and we will place it in trust, where it will accrue interest until the contract is fulfilled (when the services and supplies are delivered) or the contract is cancelled.

Insurance: You may purchase an insurance contract where the proceeds of the insurance contract will be used to pay for the services or supplies at the time they are delivered, or the contract is cancelled. “Additional Information if available on request” .
