We are thrilled to present the TEDIndia Fellows! Tom Rielly Community Director [email protected] TEDIndia_Fellows_Inside_Pgs.indd 1 14/10/09 4:23 PM Launched at TED2009 in Long Beach, the new TED Fellows program brings outstanding individuals who have shown unusual accomplishment, exceptional courage and moral imagination into the TED community and, with its help, amplifies the impact of their remarkable projects and activities. TEDIndia For TED’s first conference in Asia, we’re running a unique TED Fellows program, with international representation and a distinctly South Asian majority. We have selected 103 remarkable individuals to join us in Mysore, replicating our successful TEDAfrica 2007 program. In addition to attending as full members of the TEDIndia conference audience, all TED Fellows will take part in a one-day pre-conference where, among other benefits, they will receive world-class communication training and collaborate with their peers. Select Fellows will be invited to speak on the TED Fellows, TED University and main TED stages. Their TEDTalks may be selected for posting on TED.com, where each has the potential to be viewed hundreds of thousands of times. Fellows will also participate in the TED community throughout the next year, by telling their ongoing stories on the TED Fellows blog, being featured in the online Fellows directory and participating in a private social network. TED and TEDGlobal The TEDIndia Fellows program is a part of the larger TED Fellows program. The remainder of the pro- gram is comprised of the 25 Fellows selected to attend the TED Conference in Long Beach, California and TEDGlobal Conference in Oxford. These Fellows similarly enjoy a variety of benefits on top of conference participation and a Fellows-centered pre-conference. The Fellows program, in general, focuses on people from five target regions: Asia-Pacific, Africa, the Caribbean, Latin America and the Middle East, though people from the rest of the world are also represented and welcome to apply. Fellows are drawn from the many disciplines that reflect the diversity of TED’s members: technology, entertainment, design, the sciences, the humanities, the arts, NGOs, business and more. Though we are targeting innovators age 21-40, anyone 18 to 20 and over 40 is welcome to apply. TED Senior Fellows Of the Fellows selected each year, 20 individuals will be invited to participate in the extended Senior Fellowship program starting the following year. In addition to receiving the benefits awarded to the Fel- lows, TED Senior Fellows will receive all-expenses-paid admission to five additional conferences over the course of three years, including participation in five Senior Fellows-centered pre-conferences, the potential to deliver a longer talk on the TED U or main stage, and the potential to have their TEDTalk posted online. How you can get involved If you are a TEDster, you can help the TED Fellows in six ways: 1. mentoring a Fellow / 2. teaching at a TED Fellows event / 3. nominating an excellent candidate 4. donating to support the program* / 5. corporate underwriting / 6. contributing in-kind goods and services To learn more about TED Fellows or to participate, visit www.ted.com/fellows and contact [email protected], or call Logan McClure at the TED office in New York at +1 212 346 9333. 2 TEDFellows TEDIndia_Fellows_Inside_Pgs.indd 2 14/10/09 4:23 PM We would like to thank Sherpalo Ventures India for underwriting the TEDIndia Fellows program.
