JUNE LA VALLEUR AND DUANE ROST PHS wishes Dr. Baird a wonderful retirement.

Thank you for your support and leadership over the past 15 years! We are delighted to share our experiences in supporting PHS. The future of PHS is dependent on the investments we make.

Those investments have taken several forms. We are including PHS in our estate planning and wills. But, hopefully, those actions are far into the future. We have established a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) as a convenient mechanism to transfer funds to support the several missions of the PHS and avoid capital gains taxes. One could say we are directing the government to send those 15% capital gains to support PHS (good concept!).

How do our aging bodies impact our sexual health and our relationships with our partners? PHS is here to answer that question. I have been a champion of integrating primary care and behavioral health for my entire career. In medical school I was taught by the PHS faculty who were early pioneers in educating medical students and We would ask our fellow enthusiasts of PHS to invest in the future of PHS in any way de-mystifying the topic of sexuality. As a clinician and later in academic roles I have always found ways to link possible and certainly review their portfolio and consider placing some appreciated stock into the secure behavioral health to family medicine. After more than a decade of involvement with the Leadership Council for the Program in Human Sexuality (PHS), the dedication and passion of the Council members continues to impress me. As volunteers, they share many resources including their time, energy, dreams and generosity. GRANT FUNDING Much progress was made in 2017 towards funding our current three projects: the Bean Robinson Chair in Clinical Sexual Health, the Pepper Schwartz Professorship in

Sexuality and Aging, and the National Center for Gender Spectrum Health. A very special thank-you goes to Jennifer Pritzker and the TAWANI Foundation,

whose lead gift has provided the opportunity to work towards funding this project. I’d also like to acknowledge the contributions of the many supporters of PHS who

have enabled us to fund and establish the Director’s Chair in Sexual Health and the

Joycelyn Elders Chair in Sexual Health Education, as well as multiple fellowships. At the start of a new year, we need to renew our focus and recommit to our priorities. All three projects are important and worthy of support. We will continue to seek to connect with like-minded individuals, non-profit organizations, and corporations

who share our goal of promoting healthy sexuality across our country and around the world.
