THE STATES commenced consideration of a proposition of the Chief Minister regarding the re-appointment of a Commissioner of the Jersey Financial Services Commission.

THE STATES noted that, in accordance with Article 3(2) of the Financial Services Commission (Jersey) Law 1998, the discussion of this matter had to take place in camera . The Bailiff, in accordance with Standing Order 82, ordered all strangers to withdraw from the precincts of the States and the doors of the Chamber to be closed.

THE STATES, having concluded the debate in camera, proceeded to vote in public assembly and, adopting an amendment of the Chief Minister, agreed that on page 2, for the words “the date of the States’ debate” there should be substituted the words “14th September 2015”.

THE STATES , in pursuance of Article 53 of the Aircraft Registration (Jersey) Law 2014, made Regulations entitled the Aircraft Registration (Births, Deaths and Missing Persons) (Jersey) Regulations 2015.

Humanist and Open-air Marriages P.65/2015

THE STATES commenced consideration of paragraphs (b) and (c) of a proposition of Deputy Louise Mary Catherine Doublet of St. Saviour –

(b) to agree, in principle, that the current legislation should be amended to allow the solemnisation of marriages in the open air, including public spaces such as beaches; and

(c) to request the Chief Minister or Minister for Home Affairs, as appropriate, to bring forward for approval by the States the necessary draft legislation to give effect to the proposals.

THE STATES adjourned, having agreed to reconvene on Wednesday 15th July 2015, to continue consideration of the proposition of Deputy Louise Mary Catherine Doublet of St. Saviour entitled ‘Humanist and Open-air Marriages’ (P.65/2015) and the outstanding items of public business.
