MEN’S BASKETBALL Th e College of Central Florida men’s basketball team earned its 10th straight trip to the FCSAA State Tournament. Th e run by the Patriots is the third longest since the tournament began in 1961. CF was able to accomplish this in a year where it didn’t return a single starter for the fi rst time since 2008. Th e Patriots continued to dominate rival Santa Fe. CF has won fi ve straight games, and 21 of the last 23 games, against the Saints. Last season was the fi rst that CF won four games against the Saints in a single season. Th e Patriots also knocked Santa Fe out in the fi nals of the Mid-Florida Conference tournament for the second straight year and third time since 2011.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL Th e College of Central Florida women’s basketball team earned its fi rst state tournament victory since 2011. CF shared Mid- Florida Conference Championship. Th e Patriots swept MFC rivals Hillsborough and Santa Fe for the fi rst time in fi ve years, while also winning all three matchups against two-time defending conference champion Florida State College at Jacksonville. Prior to the MFC play, CF knocked off then-No. 2 ranked Tallahassee Community College. Th e win over TCC was the highest ranked opponent defeated by the Patriots in 10 years. CF was led by Th ais Oliveira, who became the fi rst Patriot player to earn state and national player of the week honors since Sarah Hunter in 2013. Oliveira also became the fi rst CF player to earn multiple player of the week honors since 2005-2006. CF’s excellence last season enabled coach Tommy Jones to become the third coach in Florida history to lead multiple women’s programs to the state tournament. Over the past seven years, the Lady Patriots have winning records against conference foes FSC-J (11-10) and Daytona State (12-10). CF is 11-11 vs. Daytona State and 8-7 in fi ve years against Hillsborough, the conference’s newest member.
