Life Vice-Presidents: Paul Burgess Alan Constable Gareth Coates @ashfordtownmx #ASHBRA 5 @ashfordtownmx Welcome to the RPS Alan Constable Good aernoon everyone.

We wish a happy New Year to everyone at Short Lane this aernoon, especially our visitors and those few loyal supporters that have stayed with the club despite the train crash of the current season that sees us go into the second half of the season just one place off boom spot. Hopefully maers can only get beer but it will be tough this aernoon against a Bracknell Town side who, on the face of it, have been ruthless in changing their management whenever results have not gone their way. They arrive here today in 11th posion in the table, following mixed results in December which saw them losing 2-4 at South Park, drawing one apiece at home to Hanwell and then beang Northwood 2-0 last Saturday. Following today’s game, the real crunch for us is next Saturday when we travel to meet FC Romania, the only side below us. They lost again on Boxing Day which gives us a one point advantage with a game in hand. If we could stretch that to four points next week, that would give us a lile breathing space with only one side going down this season (and even that’s subject to a play-off against a Step 5 club) We are next due here on Tuesday 14 January when we expect to be meeng Kensington & Ealing Borough in the Middlesex Charity Cup, if we can get them to confirm the match. They are doing quite well this season in Division One of the CCL and recently both Jabir Laraba and Yahya El- Kabouche have been playing for them. Both of whom have played for us in recent seasons. The Ladies are at home tomorrow to Dulwich Hamlet in a and SE Regional League match, kick- off 2.00 p.m. The postponed matches at home to Hartley Wintney in the Aldershot Senior Cup and in the League to Staines Town have been re-arranged for Tuesday 21 and Tuesday 28 January respecvely. That now leaves us with just the S. Comb. Cup game, away to Suon Common Rovers, to be sorted out.

#ASHBRA 11 @ashfordtownmx Today’s Opponents Bracknell Town

Club History The club was established in 1896 as Old Bracknell Wanderers They joined the Ascot & District League in 1904, and were runners-up in the league in 1907–08. The following season the club won the League Cup, and in 1911–12 they were league champions. Two seasons later they won Division Two. They were league champions again in 1932–33. In 1949 the club switched to the Reading & District League and were renamed Bracknell Football Club. They remained in the league until joining the Great Western Combination in 1958. In 1962 the club adopted its current name, and a year later joined the Surrey Senior League. They finished bottom of the league in 1965–66, but went on to win the League Cup in 1968–69 and the double of the title and League Cup in 1969–70. After winning the league the club joined the Spartan League. They won the League Cup in 1974–75, and when the league merged with the Metropolitan-London to become the London Spartan League at the end of the season, Bracknell were placed in Division One. They finished as runners-up in the new league's first season, losing the title to Farnborough Town on goal average, as well as losing the League Cup final. In 1977 Division One was renamed the Premier Division, and despite finishing fourth in 1978–79, the club were relegated to the Senior Division. They won the Senior Division in 1980–81, earning promotion back to the Premier Division, and the following season saw them finish as runners-up and win the League Cup. They went on to win the Premier Division and the League Cup in 1982–83. After being rejected by the Athenian League Bracknell joined Division Two South of the Isthmian League in 1984. They finished as runners-up in 1985-86 and were promoted to Division One. However, they were relegated back to Division Two South at the end of the 1988-89 season. League reorganisation saw them placed in Division Three in 1991, but after winning the division in 1993-94, they were promoted to Division Two, where they remained until relegation back to Division Three at the end of the 1988-89 season. In 2000-01 the club reached the first round of the FA Cup for the first time, eventually losing 4–0 at Lincoln City Further league reorganisation in 2002 saw Bracknell placed in Division One South, and two seasons later they were transferred to Division One West of the Southern League; this became Division One South and West in 2006. After finishing bottom of the division in 2009-10, they were relegated to the Premier Division of the Hellenic League. They were relegated again, this time to Division One East, at the end of the 2011-12 season after finishing bottom of the Premier Division. Despite finishing only fifth in Division One East the following season, the club was promoted back to the Premier Division. The 2016-17 season saw the club win three cups; the Hellenic League Challenge Cup was won by defeating Highworth Town 2–0 in the final; the Berks & Bucks County Senior Trophy was secured with a 2–0 win against Binfield, whilst the club beat Binfield again in the Reading Senior Cup final. In 2017-18 Bracknell were runners-up in the Hellenic League Premier Division, earning a promotion to the South Central Division of the Isthmian League, as well as retaining the Challenge Cup with a 3–1 win over Thatcham Town in the final. The following season saw them finish as runners-up in the Isthmian League's South Central Division, qualifying for the promotion play-offs. After beating Westfield 2–1 in the semi-finals, they lost 3–0 to Cheshunt in the final.

#ASHBRA 19 @ashfordtownmx The 2019/2020 Tangerines Player Profiles

Sam Mason Goalkeeper Signed from Woking FC for 2019-2020 where he was back-up keeper in 2018-2019, making a number of 1st Team appearances.

Josh Wilson Goalkeeper Josh has had to step up from the Under-18’s earlier than expected due to injury to Sam Mason earlier in the season. Has impressed with his handling and confidence throughout a number of cup and league appearances.

Aaron Petch Left Back / Left Wing A player from Ashford’s junior ranks. Plays anywhere down the left flank and has returned to Ashford this season after a short spell with Chertsey Town.

Joe Noakes Defender Joined Ashford this season and at home in defence or midfield. Has played for a number of Wessex League clubs.

Matt Surmon Defender Broke into the 1st team towards the end of last season, and another player from the junior ranks. As a central defender with height and great composure, he is now an automatic choice.

20 #ASHBRA ashfordtownmiddlesexfc.com

Darryl Harrison Defender Usually partners Surmon in central defence, and another player who has returned to the club after first joining at the start of season 2018-2019. He departed for Staines Town but quickly left there and is now back and a regular.

Joe Green Right Back Dependable full back who has been with Ashford for a number of seasons, with a spell at Knaphill in between.

Harrison Okwu-Ndubuisi Right Back Quickly nicknamed “Ndubs” by the Ashford faithful, Harrison could not have made a better start to life with Ashford, scoring an equalising goal at South Park in September with his very first touch for the club in stoppage time. Has continued to impress with both skill and pace.

Aaron Bryan Left Back A recent acquisition from Woking FC, he has quickly impressed and secured a place in the 1st team squad. Small nippy and tenacious.

Rylan Myers Right Back / Right Wing Comfortable both in defence and attack, Rylan joined this summer having played previously for Hayes & Yeading United.

Max Webb Midfielder Another player who has shown loyalty to the club, not joining the mass exodus at the end of last season. Dynamic midfield player who weighs in with some spectacular goals and is now club skipper.

Scott Weight Midfielder A long time club servant with close to 500 appearances for the Tangerines. Plays in midfield, in a generally defensive role. Now aged 32 he has been at Ashford for over ten years apart from a short spell at Egham Town.

#ASHBRA 21 @ashfordtownmx

Tommy Brunton Midfielder Another loyal midfield player who is probably the best passer in the club and with over 200 appearances for the club since joining from Egham Town in season 2013-2014.

Sam Humpreys Midfielder Midfield player and another new recruit this season. Has Football League experience with Oxford United. Previously with Banbury United.

Nathan Pooley Midfielder / Defender Young central midfielder / defender who has recently left the youth ranks. Played also for Knaphill and a reliable player who has adjusted well to Step 4 football.

Hafid Bounyafe Midfielder / Right Wing Pacy wide player who has recently joined the Tangerines. Has previously played for Aylesbury United but, bucking the trend, actually came to Ashford from Uxbridge for whom he laid on the winning goal last season in the Middlesex Charity Cup Final against Ashford.

Kelvin Adjei Striker 20 year old striker who joined this season. Previously with Three Bridges FC and Lewisham Borough. Popular and likeable, and always gives 100% for the team.

Dan Brown Striker Has returned to Ashford after being out of the game for a while. 72 previous appearances for the club ending in the 2012-2013 season, when he moved to Wingate & Finchley and then on to Staines Town.

Robert Mundow Striker Robert is a recent acquisition from Leatherhead FC. Has also played for Guildford City.

22 #ASHBRA ashfordtownmiddlesexfc.com

Teddy Williams Striker After a great season for the U16’s in 2018-2019 Teddy has stepped up well with the new U18 side this season, and also for the first team scoring in pre-season and an appearance more recently.

Scott Todd Striker Experienced striker, who returned to Ashford this season bringing strength to the front line. Injury has blighted much of his return but he is now back amongst the matchday squad.

By Matt Badcock SANTA Claus has been and New Year's Resolutions made. The hectic festive period is over in earnest but for Non-League clubs everywhere, the hard work is just about to begin. So, what can the man with the big white beard possibly bring your club to make the season run-in easier? Or what resolutions could your manager or chairman make to fulfil your club's ambitions? Here's just a few light-hearted ideas that you might want to put on your wishlist for 2020... For and Harrogate Town (and perhaps to a lesser extent Sutton United), they're getting to the point where they will need a Plan B. Since installing 3G surfaces, all three clubs have been victims of their own success with both Bromley and Harrogate lying firmly in the National League play-off places going into 2020. But with the EFL refusing to back down and allow club's entry with 3G surfaces, Bromley and Harrogate will have to think again if they are to clear the final promotion hurdle. Sadly, it will mean ripping up the pitches and starting all over again with a grass surface, meaning a loss in vital potential revenue. Safe to say the boardrooms at both Hayes Lane and Wetherby Road will be coming out in cold sweats come April. However, contemplating promotion is a problem most would love, notably John Sheridan and Dean Keates, managers of Chesterfield and Wrexham respectively. For them, I would giftwrap a magic wand. Incredibly, these two giants of Non-League, pre-season favourites to reclaim their Football League places this season, find themselves languishing in the bottom four of the table and staring down the barrel of football in the sixth tier. Every so often, the Spireites and the Dragons threaten to show the kind of form we know they are capable of but neither can seem to nail down a consistent run to pull themselves out of trouble. Sheridan and Keates are running out time, it's time for the rabbit to emerge from the hat. Winging its way over to Gloucester City and Worcester City for 2020, a return ticket home with both clubs nearing long-awaited homecomings after so long in exile. How about a fairytale story for National League leaders Barrow AFC, with the Bluebirds dreaming of a famous Football League return after nearly 50 years in the wilderness, or maybe another case of champagne for Marc White, looking to secure an incredible 12th promotion in charge of Dorking Wanderers? There's always a something for Santa's Little Helpers to do in Non-League football. Happy New Year.
