Hun komst maakt deel uit van een Europese tournee. Het zal de kassa van de heren opnieuw doen rinkelen. De meeste mensen kennen Take That van Robbie Williams, maar die stapte in al uit de boyband om na een korte terugkeer in weg te blijven. Ook mede-bandlid Jason Orange gaf er een aantal jaar geleden de brui aan. De overige drie mannen staan in juni op het podium van Afas Live in Amsterdam. Met de populaire Williams in hun gelederen verdiende Take That veel geld tijdens hun Progress Tour in Forbes schatte de opbrengst van die comeback op omgerekend 58 miljoen euro. Kan dat wel, een Take That-tour zonder Williams? Toch denkt hij, 'hoewel het mijn muziek niet is', dat ook deze comeback een succes gaat worden. Daar gebruiken bands een slimme truc voor: altijd doen alsof je tour de allerlaatste tour ooit is. Hij trekt de vergelijking met de Rolling Stones. Als er één groep is waar om de zo veel jaar de revivalgeruchtenmachine van op hol slaat, dan is het wel de Spice Girls. De dames maakten eerder dit jaar bekend opnieuw op tournee te gaan. Alleen Victoria 'Posh Spice' Beckham doet niet mee. De andere vier krijgen naar verluidt ieder zo'n 13,5 miljoen euro. En dat voor slechts 13 concerten. De bekende manager Simon Fuller zit achter deze comeback. Hij bedacht de Spice Girls in de jaren negentig, maar werd vooral bekend als medebedenker van talentenshow Idols. In en deed Beckham wel mee aan een comeback. De Return of the Spice Girls leverde toen zo'n 90 miljoen euro op, verdeeld over 47 concerten. Bijna 2 miljoen euro per concert dus. Veel geld, maar de financiële verwachtingen voor de nieuwe comeback zijn gezien de gages een stuk hoger. Die verwachtingen worden waarschijnlijk ruimschoots waargemaakt. Organisatoren creëren bewust schaarste, waardoor de prijzen door het dak gaan. De vraag naar kaartjes wordt aangedikt door het toepassen van data, legt Molendijk uit. Ze kunnen dus heel goed inschatten wie naar welk concert gaat. Ze weten precies wie ze waarvoor moeten benaderen. Zo zullen liefhebbers van de Rolling Stones geen e-mail krijgen voor het concert van Take That. De liefhebbers die wel worden benaderd, zal benadrukt worden dat het een éénmalig concert is. En volgens Molendijk gaan er in eerste instantie minder kaarten in de verkoop dan er plek is in de zaal. Er zit nog een voordeel aan die gecreëerde schaarste. De happy few die een kaartje hebben bemachtigd voelen zich bijzonder. En mensen die zich bijzonder voelen, willen dat uiten. Met een T-shirt bijvoorbeeld. En een boek. En een dvd van het concert. Je moet merchandising niet onderschatten. Molendijk: "Wat ook vaak gebeurt bij dit soort tours is dat er dikke sponsordeals aan hangen. Je moet niet gek opkijken als de mannen van Take That in een commercial roepen dat ze inlegluiers gebruiken", zegt hij gekscherend. Het gaat om poen. Daar zorgt hun data wel voor. De razend populaire boyband werd gezien als de Britse tegenhanger van het Amerikaanse New Kids on the Block en was de rivaal van de Londense jongensgroep East Take That heeft in de eerste zes jaar van haar bestaan acht nummer 1-hits gescoord in het Verenigd Koninkrijk. Take That was actief van tot 13 februari en in maakten ze een comeback zonder Williams, die een succesvolle solocarrière had uitgebouwd. In trad Williams ook weer tot de band toe. Op de slotceremonie van de Olympische Spelen van in Londen trad de groep op, echter zonder Robbie Williams. In wilde Nigel Martin-Smith, een casting-agent uit Manchester een boyband creëren volgens dezelfde succesformule als New Kids on the Block. Hij plaatste een oproep in een regionaal dagblad nadat hij kennis had gemaakt met Barlow en hield audities voor jongens die konden zingen en dansen. De jongens werden onder het strakke regime van Martin-Smith getraind tot echte popsterren, dagelijks moesten ze trainen, dansen en zingen en ze werden onderworpen aan een volledige make-over. Vanwege Martin-Smiths contacten met de gay-scene in Manchester treedt Take That in het begin vooral op in homobars en discotheken. Geen enkel label wilde Take That contracteren, ook Simon Cowell wees hen af, en dus bracht Martin-Smith hun eerste single Do what u like onder zijn eigen label uit. Al snel volgden de singles Promises en Once You've Tasted Love , die alle marginaal succes behaalden in de Engelse hitparades. Hun promotiecampagne was echter zo sterk dat ze zelfs een tijdje bekendstonden als de band die maar geen hit scoorde. Uiteindelijk bereikten ze de zevende plaats in de Engelse top 40 met de cover It Only Takes a Minute van Tavares , een keuze waar Barlow helemaal niet blij mee was, want hij had liever eigen materiaal uitgebracht. Deze bereikte de derde plaats in de hitparade. In werd het tweede album, Everything Changes , uitgebracht, met nieuw materiaal van Barlow. Take That werd ook mateloos populair in Azië , Australië en in de rest van Europa. Dit vooral door hun televisie-optredens, want de eerste wereldtournee komt pas in Take That had inmiddels een grote fanbase van voornamelijk tienermeisjes die hun idolen overal en altijd volgen. Met merchandise die zover ging als barbiepoppen en speciale bodylotion , wist Martin-Smith vooral een commercieel succes van de band te maken. De strakke schema's van televisieoptredens, prijzengala's en trainingen voor de concerten hielden de jongens in het gareel. Als in het album Nobody Else werd uitgebracht, hadden de jongens hun vijfde en zesde nummer 1-hit te pakken. Sure deed het al goed. Samen met de uitgebreide clip die bij het nummer hoorde en een volledig nieuwe look, stegen de jongens naar een nog hoger niveau van succes. Het nummer Back for Good was de echte klapper: in 31 landen kwam het nummer op de eerste plaats in de hitlijsten in Nederland bereikt Back for Good de tweede plaats en het nummer komt ook in de Amerikaanse top 10, iets wat ze tot dan toe niet was gelukt. In juli kondigde Williams zijn vertrek aan. De samenwerking tussen hem en Martin-Smith en Barlow werd steeds moeilijker: Williams' muzikale ideeën werden niet serieus genomen en zijn drank- en drugsgebruik werden een steeds groter probleem voor de band. Tijdens hun optreden bij de MTV Awards in moest Williams door de lijfarts van Prince onder handen worden genomen omdat hij nachten had doorgebracht met model Naomi Campbell en grote hoeveelheden drank en drugs en niet in staat was om op zijn benen te staan. Vlak voor de eerste repetities voor hun wereldtournee van , kwam het tot een confrontatie tussen Williams en de andere leden van Take That. Williams besloot onmiddellijk uit de band te stappen, dit tot ongenoegen van Martin-Smith die hem later aanklaagde. De tournee ging door, simpelweg omdat deze niet meer kon worden afgezegd. De cd Nobody Else werd een succes onder andere door de single Never Forget. Toen Martin-Smith Take That vakantie gaf tijdens de kerst van besloten de mannen echter om er een punt achter te zetten. Op 13 februari , toevallig Williams' verjaardag, hield Take That een persconferentie. In Engeland werden zelfmoordhulplijnen in het leven geroepen om de meest hysterische fans op te vangen. Honderden fans uit allerlei landen kwamen naar Amsterdam om hun idolen voor het laatst te zien. Op 16 november zond de Engelse commerciële zender ITV een documentaire uit over het verhaal van Take That, tien jaar later. Die werd goed bekeken in Engeland en de band besloot een aantal reünieconcerten te houden in Die bleken zo'n enorm succes dat er vele extra data bij kwamen om alle fans de kans te geven een concert te bezoeken. News of the World kondigde in september aan dat de comebacksingle van Take That zonder Robbie Williams Patience zou gaan heten en de werktitel van het nieuwe album Beautiful World was. De single en het album kwamen in november in Nederland uit. De single Patience werd op 10 oktober voor het eerst gedraaid tijdens de Chris Moyles Show op radio BBC 1 ; daar werd ook bekendgemaakt dat Jason Orange zijn eerste solonummer zou zingen op het nieuwe album, genaamd Wooden Boat. De band was niet betrokken bij de musical en ondersteunde die ook niet. Eind ging de Beautiful World Tour van start. Op 1 november gaf Take That een concert in de Ahoy te Rotterdam. Shine , de tweede single van het album Beautiful World , kwam in Nederland uit in maart Take That heeft voor de soundtrack van de film Stardust met o. De levensgrote posters en advertenties in bladen waren vanaf oktober te zien zijn in het Verenigd Koninkrijk.

    Vale of Glamorgan Council │Local Housing Strategy І Page 1 FOREWORD I am proud to present to you the new Local Housing Strategy 2015-20 for the Vale of Glamorgan. In the last few years’ changes to the welfare system, the lack of growth in wages, unemployment and the rising cost of living has made life harder for some people in the Vale. We have seen an increasing demand for housing, housing advice and support services as people seek help to find suitable homes, manage their finances and maintain their independence. Against a backdrop of a recession and cuts to public funding, our ability to deliver much needed new homes and keep up with the demand for services has presented many challenges. I am pleased to say the Vale of Glamorgan has embraced these challenges. Since the previous Strategy capital investment in housing has exceeded £117 million, the number of people becoming homeless has reduced and over 3000 homes have been brought up to the Welsh Housing Quality Standard. The Council and partners have developed strong, effective partnerships and worked together with stakeholders and residents to plan and develop solutions specifically for the Vale. Achieving the aims of the strategy won’t be an easy task. Continued strong strategic leadership and stakeholder engagement is vital to future success.     Spring 2007 Curriculum ART HISTORY AH 2259.01 The Birth of Romanticism: 1760 - 1820 Dan Hofstadter We shall begin with the first self-conscious stirrings of Romantic art, from about 1760 to 1820. Among the major artists covered will be David, Gericault, Ingres, William Blake, the early Turner, Caspar David Friedrich, and Goya. Readings will be drawn primarily from the poets and philosophers of the period, including Blake, Wordsworth, Diderot, and Rousseau. Our emphasis will be on the intimate relationship between late Neoclassicism and Romanticism, and on how the Romantic impulse originated in sketchbooks, small paintings, diaries, and other highly personal creations. Our principal topics will include the budding interest in chaos, natural phenomena, and spontaneity; the renewal of interest in the Middle Ages; the primacy accorded to the erotic impulse; and the fascination with the demonic and the revolutionary. Prerequisites: None. Credits: 4 Time: M, Th 9:15am - 12noon, Th 6:30pm - 8:20pm (This course meets the second seven weeks of the term.) AH 2286.01 Art in America Since WWII Andrew Spence After WWII, artists in U. S. cities played a major role in the transformation of contemporary art from Modernism to Post Modernism and the present. As a survey, this course looks at several of these artists’ works and their connections to important movements such as Abstract Expressionism, Pop Art, and the proliferation of later movements including Photo Realism, Minimalism, Feminist Art, Process Art, Earth Art, New Image Painting, Neo Expressionism, East Village Art, Identity Art and more. New York City as one of the world-class art centers is used as a focus for retracing these developments in order to gain a closer understanding and appreciation.

The absence of a 15 primary method of engineering formation during the antebellum period suggests that no metric of progress had yet scaled up to a level of dominance. Robert Thurston’s efforts in the 1890s to scale up school-based formation without liberal education did not fit a country that emphasized high-volume production at low costs. The attempts of the Wickenden study in the 1920s to achieve coordination did not fit a country highlighting self-realization 20 through consumption. The 1955 Grinter Report achieved great success when the sudden appearance of Sputnik scaled up a new territorial identity for the USA.
