Students that we may have known only in Central School or Centennial School are also included. An Elm Grove Cemetery Map, with classmate burial sites, has been added to the bottom of the Roster. I am also looking for a suitable Holy Angels Cemetery map, so that I can add classmates that are burial there. I’ve had a lot of help putting this roster together and acknowledge Mary Bell Lockhart for maintaining a list of ‘60’s & ‘70’s students and she is credited with providing many names of those who have passed. Ray Hendryx is another person that has contributed to this roster by providing a number of obituaries. Recently, I returned to the U.S. and took some time off to visit the Archives of the Big Bend, located in the Sul Ross Library building. Thanks to Melleta Bell and Jerri Garza, local archivist, I and my brother Mike, were able to locate over fifty, ‘60’s-70’s, AHS alumni obituaries. I encourage anyone interested in Alpine/Big Bend area history to visit the archives. My father, Charles Hunter owned and operated Alpine’s, Hunter’s House of Better Photography, from ’49 until his death in ’62. Hundreds of his photographs were donated to the archives and are available for review/copy. Facebook Memorial Roster/Yearbook Albums have been added to the “closed”, “Alpine High School Grads 60’s & 70’s” Facebook Group Site - https://www.facebook.com/groups/135398729855507/photos/ (a site created by Jan Hungate) The site contains Alpine High School Yearbook Albums, with student picture pages, for years 1962 thru 1965. There has been a suggestion that we use the Yearbook Albums to answer the question “What ever happened to…?”, for those who are still with us. You can add contact info. if desired, to enable connection with “old” friends. It is hoped that additional yearbook pages will be added to the Albums section, by those possessing any of the 1960’s and 1970’s AHS Yearbooks. I will also add the Memorial Roster to the “Remember in Alpine When….” an open Facebook Group Site, available to all. https://www.facebook.com/groups/127109890715336/ Also, anyone having an obituary, thoughts or additional information/corrections/suggestions, please send the information to [email protected] or mail data to Ron Hunter, JUSTMAGTHAI, R3386, APO, AP 96546, for inclusion into the A.H.S.
