The objective to prepare the Industrial profile of the district is to make the information readily available in respect of location, administrative set up, industrial area available, growth & trend of MSMEs, clusters etc to the existing as well as prospective entrepreneurs. The available data have been compiled and the profile is prepared. It is expected that this industrial profile will be useful for Government & non-government promotional & developmental agencies engaged in promotion and development of MSMEs in Bhojpur District, Bihar. General Characteristics of the District Bhojpur district was carved out of erstwhile Shahbad district in 1992. The Kunwar Singh, the leader of the Mutineers during Sepoy Mutiny in 1857, was from district Bhojpur. Agriculture is the main source of income for majority of people of the district. Rice, Wheat & Gram are the three main crops grown in the district. There are different type of small & cottage industries other than some agro based industries in the district. The district headquarter is located at Ara town. 1.1 Location & Geographical Area. The geographical area of the district 2474 Sq Kms. It is located about 50 Km from Patna. There is Ganga river in North side and Aurangabad and Rohtas district are in the southern part and patna district in east and Buxar district in the west. It is located at a Longitude of 83º-45' to 84º- 45' East and the latitude is 25º-10' to 25º-40' North. 1.2 Topography: The whole district comprises of Gangetic plane which is very fertile which is suitable for agriculture. 1.3 Availability of Minerals. No major minerals are available in the district. In minor minerals, sand & brick earth are available in the district.; PRODUCTION OF MINERAL 2016-17 S.NO. According to the District Statistical Report, there are 1244 villages in the district out of which 251 are non-residential and 993 residential. There are 228 Panchayats and 12 revenue circles, 6 Town areas, 22 Police Stations, 5 Sub-Police Stations, 1 Railway Police Station, 7 Out-Post-Police Stations in this district 2.
