St Joseph’s Gift Aided Offertory Donations: thank-you letters for the tax year ending, 5 April, 2019, are now available for you to collect from the back of church. Thank you for your support. Gift Aid makes a significant contribution to our income and, if you are a taxpayer who does not use the scheme but would like to know more, then please speak with Fr M.

Thursday, 15 August, The Feast of the Assumption, is a Holyday of Obligation. There is a Vigil Mass on Wednesday, 14 August, at 7.00pm at St Charles’ and a 10.00am Mass at St Joseph’s on Thursday, 15 August.

The St Joseph’s Childrens’ Liturgy will take a break for the summer holiday period and will restart when the children return to school on the weekend of 7 & 8 September. We thank all those who help the children and are always looking for more volunteers to assist in this way.

Application Forms for children to make their First Holy Communion in 2020 are available from Fr M after Mass. Applications for children starting in Year 3 or above in September should be completed and returned by Sunday, 22 September. The First Holy Communion Mass at St Joseph’s will be on Sunday, 17 May, 2020.

The Diocesan Pilgrimage to Walsingham, led by Bishop Heskett, will take place on Saturday 27 July, with the coach leaving Pond Hill at 7.50am or St Joseph’s, Handsworth Rd, at 8.20am (Adults £18, Students £12). Details are on the poster or contract Pauline de Rouffignac on 2696227.

CTS Paperback Missals Year A, 2019-2020: the new missals will take effect from the First Sunday of Advent and the cost this year will be £7.95. During the weekend of the 25 - 27 October, Young Catholic Adults will be running a retreat at Douai Abbey, on the theme ‘The truth touches us, we try to be guided by this contact,’ Benedict XVI. The weekend will be full-board. YCA will be running the weekend with the Schola Gregoriana of Cambridge who will be holding Gregorian Chant workshops. There will also be a Marian Procession, Rosaries, Sung Masses, Confession, talks (on the Benedict Option, Marian devotion etc.) and socials.
