The Glenfiddich 50 Year Old is a product of time, of 50 years spent maturing in oak casks, its complex and sensuous flavours mellowing and smoothing over the years. This exquisite malt has been drawn from three casks, two having spent the last 50 years quietly maturing undisturbed in their American oak barrels in Warehouse 13 (1955 and 1957 Casks). The third was more unusual, it was transferred into a new oak cask after 40 long years, giving it deeper layers of fresh fruit and oak spiciness, the liquid in these three casks was then married in a European oak butt in Warehouse 8 to allow the wondrous array of flavours and aromas to settle down and create and unrivalled harmony. This, only the third vatting of Glenfiddich 50 Year Old, bottled on 4th April 2018, is a representation of a humble beginning, a legacy proudly passed onto Heritage Lounge, a freeman of the Glenfiddich Distillery.

Each distilled in a single year, they are captured at their peak by skillful whisky creators and only at their behest, is deemed ready to share. The Collection's third release, Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1993 has a rare depth and minerality. After ten years in ex-bourbon casks, this superior parcel spurred Dr Bill Lumsden ingenuity. Inspired by the distinctive, oxidised nature of Madeira , Dr Bill determined to explore the utmost limits of its cask's influence, without sacrificing the single malt's elegant style. Dr. Bill transferred the whisky into casks which once held Bual Madeira - slowly matured in the traditional way, to augment its rich, bitter-sweet taste. During a 15 year finish, far longer than once thought possible, they would bring an intriguing sharpness to Glenmorangie’s complex fruit notes. The Collection’s sixth release, Glenmorangie Grand Vintage Malt 1996, is luxurious and creamy. Aged in a handful of the first custom-designed casks, this quintessential Glenmorangie honours the pioneering decade of travel and experi- mentation to devise the perfect cask. From the northern slopes of Missouri's Ozark Mountains, was discovered slow-growth American white oaks with a particularly porous structure. Inviting greater synergy between wood and spirit, they would magnify Glenmorangie's creamy character. Hand selected trees, cut into staves, allowing the wood to slowly dry in open air for two years, delivering gentler, sweeter flavours. The casks were then heavily toasted, and lightly charred to augment their natural wood notes. Seasoned with bourbon for four years to bring smoothness, they offered the ultimate journey to maturation.
