La Capranera, Campania Falanghina (2019) Type Wine - Still - White Producer La Capranera Region Campania, Italy Falanghina Appellation Campania Size 750 mL × 12 PRODUCER NOTES: La Capranera, located in Campania, focuses on making wine from sustainably-farmed indigenous grape varieties. La Capranera, which translates to "black goat" in Italian, is named for the breed of goats - cilentana nera - that graze in the national park near where the for these wines are grown. Once on the verge of becoming extinct, the goats have had a resurgence in population, just as wines from Campania have recently enjoyed increased visibility internationally. The wines are made from three ancient, local grape varieties: Fiano, Falanghina, and Aglianico and are harvested from vineyards located in the Capaccio-Paestum area of Campania in the middle of the Cilento National Park. The Tyrrhenian Sea is located just a few miles away and has a moderating effect on the climate of this region, producing excellent wines of exceptional ripeness and balance. WINEMAKING NOTES: This is a 16-year-old vineyard located in the Capaccio-Paestum area of Campania in the province of Salerno that borders the Tyrrhenian Sea. The grapes are softly crushed and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine ages for six months in tank before bottling. TASTING NOTES: A perfect combination of cedar with tropical notes and accents of banana. Delicious with fresh cheeses such as Mozzarella di Bufala and also excellent with shellfish and seafood. FOOD PAIRINGS: A versatile wine that does well with both slightly acidic and savory dishes, usually seafood, pasta with pesto sauces or light tomato sauces. Excellent with cheese like Boursin herbed, Feta (sheep’s milk), goat cheese, Gouda, Havarti, Mahon, Bucheron (French goat cheese), dry Jack cheese and Raclette to name a few.

PRODUCER NOTES: Pedro Parra has become a household name in the wine world, and is an integral part of Chile’s wine renaissance. Five years ago Parra returned to his hometown of Concepción, Chile, near Itata - a small, remote wine region in the Bio Bio wine region of Southern Chile. Bio Bio and Itata have spent years relatively isolated, and disconnected from the modernization that transformed the rest of the industry. The vineyards of Itata lie on granitic mountains near the coast, located 500km South of Santiago. Steep slopes, a lack of proper roads, and forests have made the region notoriously difficult to visit, but has also created a time capsule of Chilean . TASTING NOTES: Pedro Parra’s Vinista is made of 100% País, light in body with soft tannins, refreshing acidity, and notes of wild berries, dried herbs, forest floor, and a hint of bay spice on the finish. FOOD PAIRINGS: Traditionally, Pais wines pair well with Mediterranean dishes. Spanish tapas or Greek foods. The best food pairings for this light-bodied style of wine are fatty fish like tuna; poultries like duck, chicken and goose as well as dishes with mushrooms, vegetarian food and cheeses.
