LANDSCAPE SUBMISSION EXPLANATORY NOTES

1. Application to discharge planning conditions pursuant to the above consent for change of use of agricultural land to publicly accessible open space be laid out and managed as Suitable Alternative Natural Greenspace (SANG). The scheme design has been progressed and amended drawings are now submitted to supersede the approved drawings listed below:

3. The main amendments to the scheme are listed below:

• adjustment to the layout and position of the visitor car park; • local land modelling* with wildflower turfing on the east and west sides of the car park; • adjustment to the shape of the wildlife pond and associated grading to achieve safe slope angles adjoining the pond (wildflower turf to be laid over re-graded areas); • local land modelling* with wildflower turfing in the central part of the SANG (to re-use excavated material from grading operations adjoining pond); • removal of new plantings in the northern ‘enclave’ (adjoining Bowyer’s Lane) to allow for retention of existing scrub and for continuing natural regeneration; • re-positioning of stock control fencing to simplify stock management and reduce possible conflict with SANG users; • adjustment to the layout of the farmyard and corral accessed from Weller’s Lane; • minor adjustments to the alignment of all-weather paths and associated field and pedestrian gates; omission of one connecting section of the circular all-weather path; • minor changes to configurations of planting areas and addition of temporary deer control fencing to main planting blocks; • inclusion of a scheme for aquatic plantings in the wildlife pond; and • specifying orchard apple tree varieties (predominantly original varieties)

*Note: local land modelling is proposed as a sustainable alternative to removing excavated material from the site

4. Additional drawings have been prepared to provide the information required by conditions 3, 5, 7 and 8. These should be read alongside the General Layout and Soft Landscape Works Layout drawings, listed previously. All drawings in the landscape submission, and the conditions to which they relate, are listed on the Floyd Matcham Dorset Drawing Issue Schedule No 4.
