Accrediting Commission for Schools Western Association of Schools and Colleges Accrediting Commission for Schools Western Association of Schools and Colleges November 14, 2019 TO: Ministry of Education and Culture Republic of Indonesia RE: Authentication of Western Association of Schools and Colleges in United States and Worldwide The Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC), accredits schools located in California, Hawaii, and worldwide since 1961. ACS WASC works closely with the Office of Overseas Schools, United States Department of State, as one of the six regional accrediting bodies that authenticate or certify to the public that schools are quality institutions of learning. American/international schools are also under the auspices of the Department of State, United States of America, one of 47 members and signatories of the Hague Conference, including the convention of October 5, 1961. The Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association of Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC), has accredited Surabaya Intercultural School since 1994. Surabaya Intercultural School is authorized to issue student transcripts and diplomas and authenticate them with the ACS WASC seal under the leadership of the head of school. The primary goals of accreditation are the improvement of the school and certification to the public that the school is a trustworthy institution of learning based upon the ACS WASC criteria. The ACS WASC international criteria are valid and consistent measures for determining the educational quality of the school’s program in the following areas: school purpose, governance, leadership, staff, school environment, reporting student progress, school improvement progress, what students learn, how students learn, how assessment is used, student connectedness, parent/community involvement, resources, and resource planning. Therefore, the ACS WASC accreditation of Surabaya Intercultural School demonstrates the following: 1) the school is substantially accomplishing its stated purposes and functions identified as appropriate for an institution of its type, and 2) the school is meeting an acceptable level of quality in accordance with the general ACS WASC international criteria adopted by the Accrediting Commission for Schools. ACS WASC values the work with Surabaya Intercultural School and their commitment to high quality student learning. Barry R. Groves, President | Marilyn S.
