At the age of 8, Tekno was enrolled in a music school where he learned and mastered the rudiments of playing the piano and guitar. He is the elder brother to "Starboy" label act Spotless. Tekno was first signed under K-Money Entertainment. His first single titled "Holiday" was released under the imprint. With featured vocals from Davido, "Holiday" was positively accepted and gained massive airplay. In 2012, while in Abuja, Tekno was spotted by renowned Nigerian comedian Julius Agwu at an event, after Tekno had received a standing ovation following the performance of a song titled "Onye Ne Kwu", his remix of Ice Prince's "Oleku". It was at that same event that he met Iyanya and Ubi Franklyn, the manager of Made Men Music Group. Ubi and Iyanya eventually encouraged Tekno to move to Lagos to further his music career. Songwriting may mean different things to different songwriters and at different times. Songwriting, like any other creative endeavor, can be meaningful in a variety of ways. So while there are some objective ways to determine “good” or “bad” when it comes to songwriting, it is also a creative space open to a myriad of options. “A Creative mind has the ability to make discoveries and create innovations”, Rivera, (2014). 1.1 Background to the Study The American Heritage Dictionary of English language, 5thEdition, (2013) defines a songwriter as one who writes lyrics or tunes (or both). They are often referred to as ballad makers, tunesmiths, composers - someone who writes the lyrics and usually the Music of Songs.     Awka Journal of Research in Music and the Arts (AJRMA) Vol. 13 2019 REFORMING MUSIC EDUCATION CURRICULUM IN NIGERIA FOR ECONOMIC SUSTAINABILITY Festus Ife Olisaeke Ph.D. & Margaret Vincent Davou Abstract his paper highlights the need for reforming music curriculum in the Nigerian system of education. It has been discovered that Tmusic is relegated to the background, merging it with two other subjects by the curriculum planners in the Nigerian education system. This is a serious setback on music education. This paper identifies these problems and also highlights the prospects in music practice and proffers a way of harnessing the potentials in them. Data collected show that the major problem music education suffers is hinged on lack of attention to it by the curriculum planners in the education curriculum. The paper suggests that the society, the curriculum planners and the government have much to do so that music education and practice is appreciated as it is already an established fact the music contributes and improves the Nigerian economy to a large extent. This will help a lot in sustaining the music practitioners and also in salvaging the Nigerian economy that is grossly recessed. It proposes as part of its recommendations that the government should endeavor to include music as one of the country‟s compulsory subjects in its curriculum, and that music education and practice should be provided with the vocational facilities and personnel in order to thrive as a vocational subjects. Parents and the larger society should also become educated on the usefulness of music as a career subject worth pursing by learners.

    MTV Africa Music Awards 2015 The MTV Africa Music Awards KwaZulu- Natal 2015 was held by KwaZulu-Natal Province in association with Absolut Vodka and in partnership with The City of Durban at the Durban International Convention Centre in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa on July 18, 2015. The event involved saluting and championing African music, youth culture and achievement, and brought the continent together for a massive celebration contemporary music and creativity, including electrifying performances, collaborations and awards presentations. The big winners on the night included Nigerian stars Yemi Alade and Davido, who took home the Best Male and Best Female awards, respectively, while hip hop star Cassper Nyovest nabbed the Best Hip Hop award. “Koko master”, D’Banj, won the MAMA Evolution award, a new category honoring established artists who have made an indelible mark on African and global music culture, taken African music to new territories around the world, pushed the boundaries of creativity, and shaped the soundscape of contemporary Africa. South African comedian and newly appointed Daily Show host Trevor Noah triumphed in Personality of the Year. Patoranking won Best New Act Transformed by Absolut, given in recognition of new and emerging artists. Saran Kaba Jones and S’Bu Mavundla shared equal honors for the MTV Base Leadership award. Stunning collaborations between artists of different genres saw NE-YO take to the stage with Seyi Shay, 2Face collaborating with Bucie, Sauti Sol pairing up with Yemi Alade and Patoranking trading beats with K.O. The show ended on a high with a jubilant medley mash-up by Artist of the Decade winners P-Square, featuring hit tracks “Personally”, “Chop My Money”, “Alingo” and “Shekini”.
