Forest Sun and David Luning to cover Creedence Clearwater Revival classic “Have You Ever Seen the Rain?” to be released March 5 San Francisco, CA (February 2, 2021)— Before Berkeley’s Fantasy Studios closed its doors for good, singer/songwriters Forest Sun and David Luning were at a listening party that was one of the studio’s last public events. The two artists had not previously met, but there was immediate chemistry and mutual respect between them— not only were they Bay Area musicians, but they were also UCSC alumni. “A few days after David got back from touring Europe, he came by the studio to collaborate on a track,” said Sun. “We decided on a classic cover of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s ‘Have You Ever Seen the Rain?’” Recorded at Gawain Mathews Music Studio in San Pablo, California and produced by Mathews and Sun, the single will be released to all digital platforms on March 5 “I love the deceptively simple music and lyrics of this song,” added Sun. “John Fogerty is a great writer and I hope we did the song justice.” About Forest Sun Born in upstate New York to folk singing back-to-the-land hippie parents, His dad used to chop wood with neighbor Garth Hudson of The Band and literally built the floor that Bob Dylan stood on at manager Albert Grossman’s Bearsville studios in Woodstock, NY. Sun's soulful music draws on a deep well of Americana/folk roots and embraces his love of gospel, soul, reggae, Americana, blues and jazz. Sun has been compared to everyone from Jack Johnson, John Mayer and The Avett Brothers to Van Morrison. He’s played festivals from California to Europe, and has toured with folks like Brett Dennen, Mason Jennings and the Beach Boys. Forest has been releasing a song a month for the last two years culminating in the albums Brighter Day and Stubborn Breathing Heart.
