Attachment – Delaware Veteran State Benefits Attachment - Military History Anniversaries 16 thru 31 JUL (Updated) 3 * DoD * NDAA 2021 Update 03: Pentagon CMO Position Elimination Amendment The House Armed Services Committee has approved a plan for the elimination of the Pentagon’s chief management officer, which was created three years ago to spearhead reforms within the department. Under the proposal, the defense secretary would decide how the No. 3 civilian job is replaced. The panel approved Ranking Member Mac Thornberry’s amendment during its markup of the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act on 1 JUL. It was approved by an unanimous voice vote as part of a package of amendments. “I have come to the conclusion that Congress is largely responsible for making this an impossible job, and we need to figure out something different,” Thornberry, of Texas, said on a conference call with reporters. The matter wasn’t discussed at the markup. Under the HASC-approved plan, the defense secretary would transfer the duties of the CMO to an official he selects, so long as that person was not the chief management officer before that date. The Secretary would have to act within 30 days of the NDAA’s enactment. The House plan sets up a conflict with the Senate Armed Services Committee-approved plan, which would mandate the CMO office be broken up no later than Sept. 30, 2022. That bill, under floor consideration this week, is expected to be reconciled with the HASC bill after it passes the House. The Senate plan would transfer the majority of authorities to the deputy defense secretary, who would have a new, subordinate performance improvement officer to pick up some of the CMO’s duties. A Defense Business Board task force formed to examine the position concluded it was “mostly ineffective” at taming the department’s bureaucracy and urged that it be scrapped. The board offered three options to replace it and a warning that the budget of Pentagon support functions is getting in the way of core war fighting functions as DoD competes with a rising China. In recent weeks, CMO Lisa Hershman has defended the CMO position and said that under her watch, DoD successfully identified $5.7 billion to be reallocated from current support agencies towards new priorities such as hypersonic weapons and artificial intelligence.     At the Air Force Museum, veterans are drawn to the vintage airplanes, but youngsters head straight for the F-16. The Heritage of the Force By John T. Correll HE US Air Force Museum at Dayton, Ohio, has be- come one of the top tourist attractions in the Midwest, Tdrawing 1.2 million visitors a year. On the approach from Interstate 675, the museum complex is vis- ible—and impressive—from a con- siderable distance. Three enormous hangars, built in the style of avia- tion Quonset huts, dominate the view. In the background are the build- ings and runways of Wright–Patterson Air Force Base. The museum grounds are part of the base, but the big exhi- bition hangars are outside the gates, so the public can enter freely. The airpower heritage is rich here. Dayton was the home of the Wright brothers. Huffman Prairie, where they worked and flew, is three miles away. This is the oldest and biggest mili- tary aviation museum in the world. Visitors can see about 250 airplanes. There is a replica of the 1909 Wright Military Flyer, a Sopwith Camel, the World War I biplane of Snoopy’s comic strip daydreams, a shark-mouthed P-40 in the war paint of the Flying Tigers of the China Air The Air Force Museum, which dates to 1923, completed its first new complex Task Force, a B-17 Flying Fortress, (shown in the inset) in 1971. The main photo also shows the second building that an F-86 Sabre, a B-52, an F-105 was added in 1988 and a third completed this summer.

    REVIEW | RIFFE GALLERY Wrights’ exploits inspire exhibit with lofty aims Sunday, August 31, 2003 Christopher A . Yates FOR THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH Organized in response to the 100 th anniversary of Orville and Wilbur Wright’s invention of the airplane, "Imagining Flight" explores flight as artistic metaphor. Refusing to simply illustrate aspects of aviation, the 12 Untitled (Origami Installation) by Dayton-area artists represented Yasue Sakaoka offer broad interpretations of the theme. Curated by Kay Koeninger, director of the Dayton Visual Arts Center, the show seeks to demonstrate that "flight" is a creative state of mind. Though thematically linked, the work is disparate. Walking through the exhibition, the viewer senses a visual awkwardness difficult to ignore. One problem is the inclusion of a wide variety of artists working in diverse mediums. Too much diversity dilutes the power of several pieces. Another concern is that the show sometimes appears to be an advertisement for local institutions such as the Air Force Museum and the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company. Flash Video Flash Gordon Rocket For most of the artists, the Ship by Jud Yalkut concept of flight is clearly incidental rather than central to their personal visions. One of the strongest pieces is Jud Yalkut’s Flash Video Flash Gordon Rocket Ship. Functioning as a component of a video installation, the centrally located "rocket ship" sits between two wall-mounted, companion pieces — Flash Video I and Flash Crash Video. Embedded within the rocket are two video monitors running clips from the 1930s Flash Gordon scifi movie serials. With humor and an eye toward an ever-evolving perception of technology, Yalkut edits the video, adding special effects with implied commentary.

    May 8, 2018 Via Electronic Mail Steven Pearson, MD Institute for Clinical and Economic Review Two Liberty Square, Ninth Floor Boston, MA 02109 RE: Comments on the Draft Evidence Report: “Migraine Treatment: Effectiveness and Value” Dear Dr. Pearson, On behalf of Allergan plc, we are submitting this letter in response to your request for comments on the Draft Evidence Report (DER) for the review titled “Calcitonin Gene-Related Peptide (CGRP) Inhibitors as Preventive Treatments for Patients with Episodic or Chronic Migraine: Effectiveness and Value.” Our aim is to provide the Institute for Clinical and Economic Review (ICER) important considerations that we strongly believe should be incorporated prior to releasing the Final Evidence Report. We appreciate ICER’s revisions in response to our previous comments. However, Allergan believes that ICER’s economic analysis for this review still contains several simplifying assumptions that are favorable to the CGRPs. While Allergan recognizes the value of innovation, we are concerned that this approach may produce misleading results for the relative cost-effectiveness of the CGRPs compared with existing migraine preventives, such as BOTOX® (onabotulinumtoxinA). Therefore, Allergan has offered several recommendations for revising assumptions in the analysis that will result in a most plausible estimate of the cost-effectiveness of the CGRPs. Recommendation 1: The migraine severity data of the scenario analysis in Table 4.12 of the DER should be used in the base-case analysis rather than as a scenario analysis. As noted in the Allergan letter re: comments on the model analysis plan (Recommendation 3, pages 11- 12), the migraine severity data provided in Table 4.3 of the DER (page 60) do not represent proportions of migraine days that are mild, moderate and severe.

I read 3 bombers are lost with 19th of July 1944... but only 1 crew is found in MACR from 457 BG (42-97601). So the "history" must be in error. One possibility could have been loss of two a/c in circumstances that did not trigger a MACR, namely an accident. However, I checked our accident fles and while two aircraf were lost to accidents on 23 July 1944, none are listed for 19th July. Sorry to be of so litle help. Cheers! craig harris Posted by W.
