AS WE ADJUST TO THE NEW NORMAL, SUMMER 2020 WILL LOOK A LITTLE DIFFERENT THIS YEAR. IN RESPONSE TO PROVINCIAL ORDERS WITH RESTRICTIONS ON SOCIAL GATHERING AND PHYSICAL DISTANCING MANDATES, THE CITY'S EVENTS TEAM WILL DELIVER OUR SUMMER PROGRAM VIRTUALLY THIS YEAR.
With the public's safety being the top priority, event staff are planning innovative ways of delivering events without encouraging the large gatherings that typically occur with events of this scale. Programming is free and family-friendly, for residents and visitors of all ages to enjoy online!

2020 SUMMER EVENTS GUIDE | 5 THUNDER BAY WORLD DANCE COLLECTIVE Thunder Bay World Dance Collective is a not-for-profit intergenerational group of dancers from a variety of backgrounds who perform dances from around the world. The collective represents a variety of dance forms, including flamenco, Bollywood, bhangra, and skirt dances.
MINI CAFÉ BY MARTIN BLANCHET JAZZ QUINTET Mini Café is a family show made up of some of Thunder Bay’s most diverse and talented musicians. This show is produced by Martin Blanchet Jazz Quintet (Café Paris, Sharp Ninth #9). Mini Café specializes in gypsy jazz kids songs sang in French. The group is made up of five musicians with a variety of musical backgrounds.

JEAN-PAUL DE ROOVER De Roover’s early career was defined by his innovative approach to music using live looping, where he used his voice and a wide range of musical instruments to construct his songs piece by piece in front of an audience. But his constantly evolving palate has seen him exploring his earnest acoustic singer- songwriter side on “Love” (2019) as well as his passion for emotionally and aurally heavy alternative and progressive rock on “Loss” (2020), the two of which are sister albums. De Roover continues to push his own musical limits both in form and substance, daring others to try and categorize him. Because of this, De Roover’s music retains a distinct identity whether he is playing solo, with a band or even a 30-piece orchestra.
ALMOST ABBA Almost ABBA have performed for NBC, Universal, The Release of Mamma Mia, The US Military, crowds as large as 50,000 and were recently asked to open for Cher on her "Here We Go Again" tour of Australia. Lisa Ewing, who performs as Agnetha Faltskog in the show, is originally from Thunder Bay, and is proud to be a part of this year's special celebration!

Christina Martin is a powerhouse. She has won numerous awards and critical acclaim for her soaring vocals, masterful lyrics and electric performances. Her music blurs the lines between pop, rock and roots. It is both cinematic grandeur and intimate refuge. Christina began recording her own music while slogging it out on the Austin, Texas bar scene.
