LIANA COYNE APPOINTED CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER OF COYNE AIRWAYS th London, UK, Wednesday April 16 2014 - Coyne Airways has appointed Liana Coyne as Chief Operating Officer (COO) as part of a restructure that sees John Batten, Managing Director, leave the airline. Liana, who has been a director at Coyne Airways since 2010, will head up five new market-focused divisions, including Iraq, the Caspian and Central Asia, Afghanistan, Africa, and Contract Logistics, each with a dedicated manager. The new structure underpins Coyne’s focus on customer service and will strengthen the carrier as it pursues new route options using dedicated lift. “We would like to take this opportunity to thank John for his contribution to Coyne Airways and working on this assignment to restructure the company. We wish him well for the future,” said Larry Coyne, CEO. She told delegates at the Caspian Air Cargo Summit in Baku, Azerbaijan, yesterday, that there were plenty of opportunities in the region, but that it could be a difficult environment to operate in. “We sometimes experience a series of frustrating obstacles that make doing business here expensive,” she said. “Traffic rights can be an issue. “And airport costs are sometimes baffling and exorbitant." She added that airports in the area could learn a lot from Coyne’s Caspian hub, Tbilisi, in neighbouring Georgia, from where Coyne operates services to 14 destinations in the region. “Tblisi is the beneficiary of its open policy,” she said. “It has a good Customs regime, reasonable airport costs, and doing business is easy. "The downside is too much capacity." Coyne said her wish list for the region would include fewer restrictions on flight permissions, more transparency in airport charges, a reduction in transit charges for trucking, a reduction in Customs red tape and other restrictions in line with World Customs Organisation (WCO) guidelines, and investment in infrastructure. London, 10th December 2012 - A new air cargo world order will emerge over the next five years, as European combination carriers make way for new kids on the block, and niche carriers come into their own, according to Larry Coyne, CEO, Coyne Airways. Some, if not all, European legacy airlines will leave the long haul freighter business as competition increases, yields from China continue to fall, economies tighten their belts, and shippers turn to surface transport. “The combination carriers have suffered a series of setbacks including 9/11, SARS, the volcano dust cloud, and, most seriously, price fixing charges,” said Coyne. “They will increasingly concentrate on passenger cargo services, and the owners of long range freighters, like the B747-800, will need niche carriers like Coyne Airways to help them optimize loads.
