Orange Soccer Ltd ORANGE SOCCER LTD JANUARY 2016 PRIVATE & CONFIDENTIAL POWERING THE BEAUTIFUL GAME 1 THE CONCEPT Orange Soccer is creating a community of players, coaches We are building a brand strong enough to reach all corners of and clubs in the football Industry from the grassroots to the the football industry. The Orange Soccer brand provides an elite level. Through an expanding range of digital and physical overarching platform to integrate all divisions of and people platforms, we have one aim: within our Football Family. We are creating a loyal community and database of players, coaches and clubs from the local ‘To improve the ability and playing experience of players, grassroots of football, all the way through to the top of the coaches and clubs in the UK & overseas’ game. Orange Soccer provides both products and services to its community through a number of digital and physical platforms. The revenue streams are profitable in their own right and when combined, the synergies created drive the growth of the community and enhance operating margins for the business. Platforms include, but are not limited to: • ‘Clicks & Mortar’ retail of football teamwear, playing equipment & personalisation services • Commercial Playing & Coaching academies in the UK & Overseas • Original digital video content creation to engage with the Orange Soccer Community (YouTube Channel) • The manufacturing of innovative footballing equipment • The Orange Soccer Foundation - Charitable Arm ORANGE SOCCER LTD PRIVATE & CONFIDENTIAL SOCIAL BY NATURE With our digital first approach, Orange Soccer is a unique concept. Many businesses succeed in exploiting margins available in just one of the platforms; retail, academy or digital video content. Combined together though, these create superior margins derived from a loyal customer base and provide a platform for significant revenue and brand growth. The mix of digital and physical products and services makes our community/customer base feel a part of the business and thus loyal to it. Due to the digital nature of some of the core Orange Soccer platforms, the company has created valuable intellectual property (IP) from day one. With an active e-commerce platform at the centre of the business, digital growth will continue to be fuelled by the creation of original video content. This will be displayed on YouTube, as the Orange Soccer brand increases its outreach and engagement with its fans/followers. The Orange Soccer project is underpinned by core values, that the business is in place to partner with the football industry to improve the ability and enjoyment of all those involved in the beautiful game. This is brought to life by the current and future team members with a clear focus on utilising the fresh, innovative thinking of youth and balancing that with a control and leadership of proven experienced members of the UK business community. The diagram on the next page illustrates how the Orange Soccer community integrate and interact with the various Orange Soccer platforms and each other. ORANGE SOCCER LTD PRIVATE & CONFIDENTIAL Grassroots Club Grassroots Player Grassroots Coach Elite Club Elite Player Elite Coach ORANGE SOCCER LTD PRIVATE & CONFIDENTIAL ORANGE SOCCER ACADEMIES Commercial playing academies are increasing in popularity throughout the country. With parents willing to pay for their children to experience elite level coaching and the subsequent potential opportunity of a playing career, they are becoming increasingly commonplace. However, the majority of these are very localised and disjointed, with no clear player pathway. By implementing a consistent, proven programme alongside the unique links into the professional and commercial side of the game, the academy experience Orange Soccer offers is far superior. Linking in to the retail arm, the academy structure can provide superior teamwear and equipment and benefit from economies of scale others can’t compete with. In turn this subsequently complements the digital channels as the academy players and coaches become a part of the original video content that is being created. The Orange Soccer Future Coaches Academy is another unique concept. Offering talented coaches their own learning pathway; coaching at the academy whilst developing on their coaching career path, with the end game of establishing their own Orange Soccer Academy (run under license from Orange Soccer). Whilst the UK is Orange Soccer’s immediate focus, in the medium/long term there is potential for international growth into more lucrative/underexploited markets within the game. Plans are already in place for an Orange Soccer International Academy in Dubai. ORANGE SOCCER LTD PRIVATE & CONFIDENTIAL CONTENT IS KING The creation of football related original video content has Video content will have a global outreach with a focus on: exploded in the past five years with many YouTube channels having followings in their millions. • Providing free coaching sessions (filmed at the Orange Soccer Academy, showcasing the academy & the Channels like Freekickerz and The F2 have become distinct teamwear) brands in their own right and they are enjoying major • Skills showcases financial gains from their audiences. • Product testing & reviews It isn’t yet clear whether these are short term gains or • Interactions with professional players, coaches & clubs whether they have longer term sustainability. These channels have been built up on a purely digital platform from nothing. • Behind-the-scenes footage with our brand partners, e.g. New Balance and Joma Orange Soccer has a unique opportunity to create a • Mashup videos with high profile YouTube channels successful channel and following, built from within the football industry. Through the academy and retail setup we • Grassroots football content with our players, parent have links into the game at all levels, making the creation of coaches and club partners video content easier. • FOUL PLAY Sponsors Leave Workers on the Sidelines
FOUL PLAY Sponsors Leave Workers on the Sidelines A Report by BASIC (Bureau for the Appraisal of Social Impacts and Costs) for COLLECTIF ETHIQUE SUR L’ETIQUETTE May 2016 2 Summary Next June when the UEFA European Championship kicks off in France, the world’s big sportswear brands will unveil their new marketing campaigns, and their budgets are likely to break new records. For example, Nike’s last World Cup campaign in Rio – “Risk Everything” – was budgeted at an estimated 68 million dollars, the highest in the brand’s history. In addition to their ubiquitous media presence, international football’s three main sponsors – Nike, Adidas and Puma – have billed themselves as champions of decent working conditions in their factories. After a series of scandals made headlines in the 1990s, they made socially responsible policies a priority and are regularly cited as examples in the garment industry. However, in light of persistent problems (accidents, fires, low wages), it is legitimate to wonder if the situation has fundamentally changed for workers who eke out a meager living in the brands’ supply chains. In order to begin to frame an answer, The Éthique sur l’étiquette Collective has launched a study to explore the relationship between the sportswear brands’ business model and working conditions in their supply chains. Here are the main results: Endorsements are the growth engine… Because of football’s media and social importance, it has become a major battleground for the world’s major sportswear brands. Dominated by the Big Three—Nike, Adidas and Puma—European football endorsements have reached astronomical levels: deals made with the 10 biggest teams have risen from € 262 to more than € 405 million since 2013.
