11 12 A NOTE FROM BERRY GORDY

At Motown, we called ourselves a family and we were—a big family. While it is impossible to list here the many people who helped Motown with their love and passion, I personally want to thank them all. Their dedication and talent contributed to our success, as well as helped to inspire me to bring our story to Broadway.

Motown was a dream that happened to come true, and it’s all because of you. Thank you.

Basic information: Dylan Cavanaugh. Sophmore from Cedar Rapids majoring in cinema and communication studies.

What is your position at Hancher? .

How long have you worked at Hancher? One year.

What is your favorite part about Hancher? I like being able to see a lot of the shows and I also enjoy meeting all of the coworkers and audiences that are at Hancher.

Do you have any favorite Hancher show you’ve worked or attended? I really enjoyed The Book of Mormon, it was hilarious and I couldn’t get the songs out of my head for days.

Do you have a favorite spot in Iowa City? Hancher Auditorium ;)

Do you have any favorite TV shows, movies, bands, or books? I enjoy a lot of TV shows—South Park, Parks and Recreation, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, to name a few. I don’t have a favorite movie because it’s so hard to choose, but I enjoy watching superhero movies. I recently started reading the Harry Potter series and I really enjoy that but one of my favorite books is probably The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Do you have any favorite classes you’ve taken at the University of Iowa? Social Media Today.

What are your eventual career goals? How does working at Hancher help you achieve those goals? I’d like to end up in a career that makes me feel happy and successful, preferably in the entertainment/media field. Working at Hancher helps build my social skills with fellow employees and the community, which can be useful in the future.
