Rays of the Harmonist Vol. 3 No. 1 Rays of The Harmonist Vol. III No. I Editorial ®r ®r Rdh and Kas l la and Their vision of each other is described as nitya nav na, eternally fresh and new. When Rdh sees Ka She thinks, Who is this wonderfully attractive dark com- plexioned boy? I have never seen Him before! Similarly, on the sdhakas journey he experiences newer and deeper realizations concerning the tattvas of the Absolute, such as his understanding regarding the identity of ®r Caitanya Mahprabhu, and whether it was for primary or secondary reasons that Mahprabhu decided to answer ®r Advaita cryas thunderous calling and inaugarate the auspicious Sak rtan yajña on earth 513 years ago. As our genuine love deepens, the covering veils of illusion and misconceptions fall away, revealing finer and eternally ever fresh perceptions to be experienced and tasted by the sdhaka. Bhakti devi Herself is described as that dynamic current of positive loving service to our iadevas Rdh and Kaand just as any strong current surges to cover newer ground churning the depths of the river bed, so our appreciation of ®ri Caitanya Mahprabhu as jagad guru and bhajana ks guru, guiding us to the lotus feet of Rdh and Ka becomes clearer. What was the primary reason for His advent at this time? To taste for Himself that highest conception of Rdhs own unnatojvalla prema. And what was the treasure He came to give to the bound j vas? The beauty of His own bhakti, unnatojjvalla rasm sva bhakti riyam, that most intimate service to ®r Rdhik Herself, rdh-dsyam. anarpita-car cirt karuayvat ra kalau samarpayitum unnatojjvala-ras sva-bhakti -riyam hari puraa-sundara-dyuti-kadamba-sand pita sad hdaya-kandare sphuratu va ac -nandana anapita-not bestowed; car -having been fomerly; cirt-for a long time; karuay-by causeless mercy; avat ra-descended; kalau-in the age of Kali; samarpayitum-to bestow; unnata-elevated;ujjvala-rasm- the conjugal mellow; sva-bhakti-of His own service; riyam-the treasure; hari-Lord Hari ; puraa-than gold; sundara-more beautiful; dyuti-of splendor; kadamba-with a multitude; sand pita-lighted up; sad- always; hdaya-kandare-in the cavity of the heart; sphuratu-let Him be manifest; va-your; aci-nandana- the son of mother ®ac . May that Lord who is known as the son of ®r mat ®ac dev be transcendentally situated in the innermost chambers of your heart. Resplendent with the radiance of molten gold, He has appeared in the Age of Kali by His causeless mercy to bestow what no incarnation ever offered before: the most sublime and radiant spiritual knowledge of the mellow taste of His service. This loka has been taken from ®r la Rpa Gosvm ss Vidagdha Mdhava, and quoted by ®r la Kadsa Kavirja three times in his Caitanya Caritmrta, Adi 1.4; Adi 3.4; Antya 1.132. By our developed love and affection towards the Divine Couple through service to Guru and Vaiavas and our steady progressive sdhana bhajana securly aimed at the prema-prayojana, the high- est conception, which, in the Gau ya tradition is service in the personal camp of Rdh, our success is assured. It is only then that we can experience the full dynamism of bhakti devis ever fresh cur- rent. At that time our hearts and minds can be immersed in that nitya-nav na river of divine hari-kath as spoken by our crya preceptors. We sincerely hope that our readers will be inspired by the siddhntas revealed by our cryas words, and in particular at this auspicious time relish the contemplation of the Golden Avatra, ®r Caitanya Mahprabhu. • The Stages of Bhakti. Odessa. 2004. Lecture 1. En. I Will Speak A
The Stages of Bhakti. Odessa. 2004. Lecture 1. En. I will speak a little about the opening verses of the tenth chapter of the “Bhagavad-gita”. And the reason why I decided to choose this topic ... they are numerous. One of them is that we often underestimate the “Bhagavad-gita”, the fact that we open it and think, “I know everything. Everything is clear – I am not this body, Krishna is God”. You can close the “Bhagavad-gita” and put it on the shelf. But actually, the greatest minds of the mankind have read and re-read the “Bhagavad-gita” over and over again. And we need to do the same, because in the process of such repetition our desire for Krishna becomes stronger and stronger. Krishna Himself explains that in the twelfth chapter of the “Bhagavad-gita” where He says that abhyasa, this method (abhyasa means repetition or practice), abhyasa, or the practice, the constant repetition is the method that will make our desire stronger. That is the very fan which we use to kindle the spark of our desire to go to Krishna. it is impossible to understand where from this spark has flown into our hearts. Only God knows where from! By causeless mercy, we have met the devotees, and the devotees, Srila Prabhupada's books, have instilled in our heart a spark of faith. Abhyasa or the constant practice of repetition allows that spark to ignite, allows us to turn it into a flame. That is one of the reasons why we should go back to the “Bhagavad-gita” again and again and try to read in it what we have not seen before, constantly comparing it with our own experience.

SACRED SPACES AND OBJECTS: THE VISUAL, MATERIAL, AND TANGIBLE George Pati BRAUER MUSEUM OF ART | APRIL 13 — MAY 8, 2016 WE AT THE BRAUER MUSEUM are grateful for the opportunity to present this exhibition curated by George Pati, Ph.D., Surjit S. Patheja Chair in World Religions and Ethics and Valparaiso University associate professor of theology and international studies. Through this exhibition, Professor Pati shares the fruits of his research conducted during his recent sabbatical and in addition provides valuable insights into sacred objects, sites, and practices in India. Professor Pati’s photographs document specific places but also reflect a creative eye at work; as an artist, his documents are also celebrations of the particular spaces that inspire him and capture his imagination. Accompanying the images in the exhibition are beautiful textiles and objects of metalware that transform the gallery into its own sacred space, with respectful and reverent viewing becoming its own ritual that could lead to a fuller understanding of the concepts Pati brings to our attention. Professor Pati and the Brauer staff wish to thank the Surjit S. Patheja Chair in World Religions and Ethics and the Partners for the Brauer Museum of Art for support of this exhibition. In addition, we wish to thank Gretchen Buggeln and David Morgan for the insights and perspectives they provide in their responses to Pati's essay and photographs. Bhagavata Purana The Bh āgavata Pur āṇa (Devanagari : भागवतपुराण ; also Śrīmad Bh āgavata Mah ā Pur āṇa, Śrīmad Bh āgavatam or Bh āgavata ) is one of Hinduism 's eighteen great Puranas (Mahapuranas , great histories).[1][2] Composed in Sanskrit and available in almost all Indian languages,[3] it promotes bhakti (devotion) to Krishna [4][5][6] integrating themes from the Advaita (monism) philosophy of Adi Shankara .[5][7][8] The Bhagavata Purana , like other puranas, discusses a wide range of topics including cosmology, genealogy, geography, mythology, legend, music, dance, yoga and culture.[5][9] As it begins, the forces of evil have won a war between the benevolent devas (deities) and evil asuras (demons) and now rule the universe. Truth re-emerges as Krishna, (called " Hari " and " Vasudeva " in the text) – first makes peace with the demons, understands them and then creatively defeats them, bringing back hope, justice, freedom and good – a cyclic theme that appears in many legends.[10] The Bhagavata Purana is a revered text in Vaishnavism , a Hindu tradition that reveres Vishnu.[11] The text presents a form of religion ( dharma ) that competes with that of the Vedas , wherein bhakti ultimately leads to self-knowledge, liberation ( moksha ) and bliss.[12] However the Bhagavata Purana asserts that the inner nature and outer form of Krishna is identical to the Vedas and that this is what rescues the world from the forces of evil.[13] An oft-quoted verse is used by some Krishna sects to assert that the text itself is Krishna in literary

VAISNAVA SARVABHAUMA SRILA JAGANNATHA DASA BABAJI The following article appears in the sixth year of the monthly publications of the Gaudiya magazine under the direct guidance of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura. It is written by the head school master of Satrujit High School, Sri Yanunandana Adhikari, a disciple of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura. It was the second year after the opening of the Sri Caitanya Matha in Vrndavana. The resident devotees had left for Delhi to preach the glories of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Sri Krsna. I had remained behind the others because I often become ill at the festivals. Three or four days had passed since the devotees had departed. My mind was feeling somewhat restless and uncomfortable. I was sitting alone upstairs on the veranda in front of the door to my room. I was gazing here and there empty minded. It was now about 10:00 AM when the old Vaisnava Vrndavana resident arrived. He entered into the temple grounds from the front entrance and gradually made his way up the flight of stairs. As the old figure climbed the stairs he stopped for a few moments to gain his balance. He had stumped his foot. I paid my obeisances unto the old Vaisnava and offered him a sitting place on a nearby large rug. As he gasped in short drawn breaths it was apparent that he was exhausted from his travels abroad. The mood in which he humbly introduced himself would be recognized by many Vaisnavas. I had met this venerable Vaisnava on a previous occasion.
