Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street - Walk of Fame Additional Name in Terrazzo Sidewalk —

RECOMMENDATIONS:

A. That the City Council designate the unnumbered location situated one sidewalk square southerly of and between numbered locations 74A and 74a as shown on Sheet #10 of Plan D-13788 for the Walk of Fame for the installation of the name of Pharrell Williams at 6270 Hollywood Boulevard.

B. Inform the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce of the Council's action on this matter.

C. That this report be adopted prior to the date of the ceremony on December 4, 2014.

FISCAL IMPACT STATEMENT:

No General Fund Impact. All cost paid by permittee.

1. Unnumbered communication dated November 10, 2014, from the Hollywood Historic Trust of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce, biographical information and excerpts from the minutes of the Chamber's meeting with recommendations. City Council 2 C. D. No. 13

DISCUSSION:

The Walk of Fame Committee of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce has submitted a request for insertion into the the name of Pharrell Williams. The ceremony is scheduled for Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 11:30 a.m.

The communicant's request is in accordance with City Council action of October 18, 1978, under Council File No. 78-3949. Following the Council's action of approval, and upon proper application and payment of the required fee, an installation permit can be secured at 201 N. Figueroa Street, 3rd Floor, Counter 23.

PHARRELL WILLLIAMS - (Category —Recording) Requested star location to be 6270 Hollywood Boulevard in front of the W Hotel Hollywood property situated on the South side of the street at Hollywood & Vine. The star for PHARRELL WILLLIAMS will be placed in the second row next to the original row closest to the property next to REESE WITHERSPOON (W) and A BLANK SQUARE (E) also in the second row. The stars situated in the original row where star is near are RUTH ROLAND (74A) to the East and THELMA TODD (74a) to the WEST. According to sheet # 10 plan 13788,PHARRELL WILLLIAMS'S star is in the second row and has no designated number. Redefining cool for a new generation, Pharrell Williams is a creative force, using music, fashion, and design to express his distinctive style. From his beginnings as a teenage prodigy and multi-instrumentalist in Virginia Beach back in the early '90s, through enough hits to earn him Billboards Producer of the Decade in 2010, to his current status as multi-media superstar, Williams has never stopped creating. Schultz announced the 2015 Walk of Fame honoree recommendation submitted by the Walk of Fame Committee.

Motion by Schultz, seconded by Zarrinnam to approve the Walk of Fame committee selections for 2015 as follows:
