Size-structure analyses and gonad characteristics of the elongate sunset clam Gari elongata from the coastal waters of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur, Philippines, was determined in this study. An opportunistic sampling approach was applied during the collection of G. elongata from the coastal waters of Brgy. Loyola and Brgy. Aquino. A total of 1437 G. elongata individuals were subjected to length-weight measurements, and gonads from five (5) individuals per sex among size classes were processed for histological characterization. The maximum total length of G. elongata recorded is 5.42 cm, way smaller than its congeners elsewhere, which is at 7.0-9.2 cm. The size- structure analysis shows that G. elongata from Brgy. Loyola exhibited negative allometric growth while those gleaned from Brgy. Aquino exhibited positive allometry indicating variation in growth dynamics. Known as a gleaning source, Barangay Loyola is abundant in G. -

A Word Formation Process of Noun in Kamayo Language, Philippines

Bucjan Surigaodel Sur State University, Tandag, Philippines ABSTRACT The fear of disappearance of the minority languages such as of the Kamayo language in Surigaodel Sur can be an interesting inquiry. Modern Kamayo of today is now heavily borrowing words and phrases from Bisaya, Filipino and English. This can be a sad reality when the danger of which people celebrate one’s language at the expense of others. The researcher’s eagerness to analyze the language of Kamayo which is in danger of extinction is therefore, deem significant in the preservation of such language; hence, this study is conceptualized. The study aims to analyze the word formation of the Kamayo language using the framework of morphological aspects of the language. The study specifically focuses on describing the word formation process of the Kamayo language in terms of nouns. This is a qualitative type of research which utilized a purposive sampling and conducted an interview in gathering the data. It was found in this study that there were eight-word formation processes in the Kamayo language, namely: blending, borrowing, coinage, clipping, inflection, reduplication, acronym, and compounding. The study further revealed that inflection is the most common word formation process found in the Kamayo language. The Food for Progress Program helps developing economies and emerging democracies modernize and strengthen their agricultural sectors. Working with government agencies and private partners, PCCP works to create and strengthen producers’ groups to increase agricultural production that meets international food safety requirements through: o provision of improved technologies o developing cold chain related markets, and o strengthening intermediate organizations. BFAR Caraga-FishCORAL Project launches CCAUSE; baywide management council for Lianga- Hinatuan-Bislig Bay BUREAU OF FISHERIES AND AQUATIC RESOURCES-CARAGA·WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 13, 2017 The Fisheries, Coastal Resources and Livelihood (FishCORAL) Project of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-Caraga Region has officially launched its Coastal Community Alliance Unified for Sustainable Ecosystem (CCAUSE) to serve as baywide management council (BMC) for Lianga-Hinatuan- Bislig Bay held at Grand Palace Hotel, Butuan City, Wednesday, September 13, 2017. Regional Director Juan Albaladejo commenced the event and delivered his message expressing his warmest welcome and outmost gratitude to all the delegates in realizing the event. Delegates of the launching were from the local government units (LGU) of Lianga- Hinatuan-Bislig Bay mainly attended by the local chief executives, sanggunian bayan (municipal council), and their respective technical working groups composed of municipal agriculturists, agricultural technologists for fisheries, and representatives from the Municipal Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Councils and Municipal Project Management Offices. The event was also participated by the Provincial Fisheries Office, Provincial Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Office, and Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office of Surigao del Sur, Center for Empowerment and Resource Development Inc., and the secretariat of the CCAUSE- the Surigao del Sur State University-Lianga Campus. The said launching was graced by Attorney Leoderico Avila, Jr who facilitated the review and finalization of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the CCAUSE. “With this instrument (MOA) that we are finalizing, we are confident that “tapat na serbisyo para sa mamamayan”, will be fully realized,” said Atty. Second Women’s Health and Safe Motherhood Project INDIGENOUS PEOPLE’S DEVELOPMENT PLAN (IPDP) FOR SURIGAO DEL SUR October 2004 Public Disclosure Authorized I. Introduction The WHSMP 2 hopes to demonstrate in selected project sites an affordable model of delivering health services that increases access of vulnerable and disadvantaged women of reproductive age to acceptable, high quality, and cost-effective reproductive health services essential for safely attaining their desired spacing and number of children. Indigenous peoples, youth, poor women, commercial sex workers are among the vulnerable and disadvantaged groups that the project hopes to effectively reach and benefit. WHSMP2 has the following objectives: (i) increase the access (in selected sites) of disadvantaged women (including indigenous people) of reproductive age to high quality and cost-effective reproductive health services; and (ii) develop and implement sustainable and replicable systems, Public Disclosure Authorized within the framework of the Health Sector Reform Agenda, for the financing and delivery of reproductive health services. The project consists of two parts: a Local Delivery of the Integrated WHSM Service Package (Part A) and a National Capacity to Sustain WHSM Services (Part B). The Province of Surigao del Sur is among the first batch of Project Sites selected for the project, which will be assisted through the establishment and operation of a network of Women’s Health and Safe Motherhood teams (WHT), provision of assistance in the upgrading of health facilities, development and implementation of cost-effective and sustainable approaches to reach vulnerable and high risk groups. Selected health facilities in the province will be improved and upgraded to increase access of women, particularly the disadvantaged women, to emergency obstetric care.
