Disaster Risk Reduction and Response Operations Office (DRRROO) Disaster Risk Reduction and Response Operations Office (DRRROO) REPORT NO. 24: EFFECTS AND SERVICES AND INTERVENTIONS FOR VICTIMS OF FLOODING DUE TO LPA / TROPICAL DEPRESSION ‘’AGATON” As of January 20, 2014 / 6:00 A.M. PAGASA WEATHER BULLETIN NO. 12 TROPICAL DEPRESSION “AGATON” Issued at 5:00 A.M. / January 20, 2013 Tropical Depression “Agaton” has moved East Southeast slowly while maintaining its strength. At 4:00 am today, the centre of Tropical Depression “Agaton” was estimated based on all available data at 230 km Southeast of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur or at 230 km East of Davao City with maximum winds of 55 kph near the center, and forecasted to move Southwest at 5 kph. TD ”Agaton” is expected to be at 140 km Southeast of Davao City or at 85 km Southeast of General Santos City by Wednesday morning. By Thursday morning it is expected to be at 140 km Southwest of General Santos City. Sea travel remains to be risky in the waters off Luzon, Visayas and Caraga Region. Public Storm Warning Signal No. 1, is still hoisted over the following areas: Region Provinces XI Davao Oriental, Davao del Norte, Davao del Sur and Compostela Valley CARAGA Surigao del Sur and Agusan del Sur. Affected Areas and Families: A total of 100,038 families composed of 477,861 persons coming from the 534 barangays, 84 municipalities, 7 cities in the 13 provinces of Regions CARAGA, X, XI and ARMM were affected. The increase in the affected areas, families and displaced persons is came from the updates of CARAGA (Please refer to Annex A for details). Region Prov. Cities Mun. Brgys. To date, 342 evacuation centers are still open and continuously providing temporary shelter to 25,754 family-evacuees or 120,376 individuals while 47,301 families or 238,148 individuals are still staying with relatives and friends’ houses. Situational Report: Region CARAGA State of Calamity has been declared at: > Butuan City, Agusan del Norte and 3 towns in Agusan del Sur: Bunawan, Sibagat, and Sta. Josefa and; > 1 city and 3 towns in Surigao del Sur: Bislig City, Liang, San Miguel, and Tago Main road going to Davao city and Surigao City are no longer passable. All provinces continue to experience moderate rainfall and gusty winds. DSWD-CARAGA continuously repack a family food packs at DPWH Area Equipment Service Office located at Tiniwisan, Butuan City. Continues monitoring of the areas affected is done through on site rapid assessment and coordination with P/C//M DRRMC by the Community-based Social Workers (SWs), Municipal Links Officers (MLOs) and Project Development officers (PDOs) in the areas affected. The skeletal team continues to monitor and report on a 24-hour basis. Region X: Province of Lanao del Norte and Iligan City put under the state of calamity. All SWAD teams were alerted to closely monitor and coordinate with their respective LGUs. Region XI: A state of calamity has been declared in Region XI: > 1 city and 4 towns in Davao del Norte: Tagum City, Asuncion, Carmen, Kapalong, and New Corella > 6 towns in Davao Oriental: Baganga, Boston, Caraga, Cateel, Manay, and Tarragona All SWAD teams were alerted to closely monitor and coordinate with their respective LGUs. VI. Standby Funds and Stockpile: Prepositioned P33.50 million worth of emergency relief resources consisting of standby funds (P2.64million), 24,456 family food packs (P6.25 million) and other food and NFIs (P24.6 million) readily available for augmentation. SITUATION OVERVIEW Profile of the Incident • Due to Shallow Low Pressure Area (SLPA), CARAGA Region is experiencing cloudy skies but no rain since last night 18 February 2011. The following incidents were observed and monitored: AGUSAN DEL SUR • River systems in the Province of Agusan del Sur are now increasing in water level particularly in Gibong River in Prosperidad and Wawa River in Sibagat • Portion of National Highway in Bunawan, Agusan del Sur is flooded but still passable to heavy vehicles • Few houses in Los Arcos, Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur are still underwater. Road section in the same area is submerged with water but passable. • Pre-emptive evacuations were conducted in the municipalities of San Francisco (Brgys. 1 and 2) and Rosario (Brgys. Poblacion, Libuac and Cabanto). Evacuees are now housed at the Municipal Gym, Agusan del Sur National High School (San Francisco) and Municipal Training Center (Rosario) AGUSAN DEL NORTE • Flights of Cebu Pacific and Philippine Airlines in Butuan City resumed this morning. An opportunistic sampling approach was applied during the collection of G. elongata from the coastal waters of Brgy. Loyola and Brgy. Aquino. A total of 1437 G. elongata individuals were subjected to length-weight measurements, and gonads from five (5) individuals per sex among size classes were processed for histological characterization. The maximum total length of G. elongata recorded is 5.42 cm, way smaller than its congeners elsewhere, which is at 7.0-9.2 cm. The size- structure analysis shows that G. elongata from Brgy. Loyola exhibited negative allometric growth while those gleaned from Brgy. Aquino exhibited positive allometry indicating variation in growth dynamics. Known as a gleaning source, Barangay Loyola is abundant in G.

Bucjan Surigaodel Sur State University, Tandag, Philippines ABSTRACT The fear of disappearance of the minority languages such as of the Kamayo language in Surigaodel Sur can be an interesting inquiry. Modern Kamayo of today is now heavily borrowing words and phrases from Bisaya, Filipino and English. This can be a sad reality when the danger of which people celebrate one’s language at the expense of others. The researcher’s eagerness to analyze the language of Kamayo which is in danger of extinction is therefore, deem significant in the preservation of such language; hence, this study is conceptualized. The study aims to analyze the word formation of the Kamayo language using the framework of morphological aspects of the language. The study specifically focuses on describing the word formation process of the Kamayo language in terms of nouns. This is a qualitative type of research which utilized a purposive sampling and conducted an interview in gathering the data. It was found in this study that there were eight-word formation processes in the Kamayo language, namely: blending, borrowing, coinage, clipping, inflection, reduplication, acronym, and compounding. The study further revealed that inflection is the most common word formation process found in the Kamayo language.
