"Hear ye, hear ye!" cried the royal town crier. "The Queen would like to announce that she has a new opening in the castle," There was uproar of commotion in the crowd. I was a part of that commotion. Who doesn't want a job in the castle? You could get a chance to hang out with the Queen, Sophia White! Everyone was anxiously waiting to see what the job was. Clearing his throat he cried, "The new job opening will be the Queen's Royal Beautician." Oh my gosh! I am an expert on everything there has to do with beauty. Whether it's nails, hair, makeup, clothes, accessories, or even beauty tips, I was the perfect person to get the job. The next day, the Queen had auditions to see who would be her next beautician. I definitely was going to audition. I wasn't surprised to see all of the people there. There were mostly females, but I saw a few males here and there. After waiting for literally seven hours, I was next. " it's show time," I thought in my head. For I knew I had to impress her to get .this job. "Miss, a---," The Queen's royal announcer was fumbling through papers to find my name. "Ah, yes, Miss Evie Queen, please choose one of these beauty objects on the table and demonstrate what to do on this here mannequin." he said sounding very bored. "Yes, sir," I said in sort of a whisper. I didn't know which one to choose. There must have been hundreds of beauty supplies for me to choose from. I finally decided what to pick after I scanned the supplies. I grabbed the most beautiful lipstick "\,.. -- ...._ - ,, I had ever seen. It was so red it almost looked like blood. I applied it to the mannequin very carefully knowing that if I make one little mistake, I was out. Once I was done the Queen starred at me with a curious expression on her face. Then finally she spoke. I have never heard the Queen speak but I was surprised when she did. "Miss Queen, why did you pick that lipstick?" she said with her very, calm and curious voice. "I don't know, I guess it stood out to me the most," I said hoping that was the explanation she was looking for. "Thank you, you may go," she said with a smile. I couldn't tell if she was smiling because she liked me, or if she was smiling because she had one less person to interview. I was so disappointed. I thought she would choose me right away. Maybe I wasn't fit for this particular job. The sound of the town crier's horn woke me up. I quickly got dressed to see what the commotion was about. "Hear ye, hear ye," he said as usually. I don't know how many times I've heard that before. You know, they should really get him a new instrument to blow, because that one is seriously annoying. "The Queen-would like to announce her new beautician," he said-out of breath because of his annoying blowing. I was over joyed; I thought she would tell you right away if you were fit for the job. I didn't know that she would announce it today. Everyone Wf!S smiling and chattering about how it was going to be them. "Settle down everyone," he said annoyed. "Our new beautician is ... Evie Queen!" the crier yelled. I couldn't believe I was the new beautician. They picked me! The crier took me to the castle faster than I could have flown. I immediately got to work. The Queen came in to see what I was working on. Honestly, I wasn't really working on anything, I was just pretending. I mean I didn't know what to do. If you were to see this room, you wouldn't believe your eyes. I think she has more beauty products that all of the stores in our village. "Evie, do my hair," the Queen demanded. Even though she didn't say please, I didn't take it personally. I probably would do the same if I had servants waiting on me hand and foot. "Yes your grace," I replied quietly. '"Do speak up, I can hardly hear you," she exclaimed. "Yes your grace," I said a little louder. I started on her medium length black hair. It was the smoothest thing I've ever touched in my entire life! I couldn't believe this was her actual hair. I would do anything to have her hair. "Evie, I want to get to know you since you're going to be here forever," she demanded. I didn't really think about being here forever, but I was happy she wanted to get to 'know a peasant girl like me. "What do you want to know?" I asked. "Everything," she said "Everything? Well, urn, where do I start? My life isn't very exciting." "Oh? What about your ancestors? Are there any exciting stories about them?" "Well, my mom owned her own cosmetics shop. My dad was a farmer, my-" "Where are your parents?" she said cutting me off. "They have passed away, your grace," I whispered sadly. "Oh, I'm so sorry. My deepest respects, Evie," she said with compassion. The Queen isn't actually a brat like I thought she would be. She is actually quite nice. "Do go on," she demanded again. "Where was I? Oh yes, my grandma was a Queen, actually. I never really met her, but I've heard magnificent stories. "Well how fascinating? That is really something special," "Yeah, I guess it is," I said realizing it actually was something pretty cool about my past. "What about you, my Queen? Would you mind sharing any interesting stories about your past?" "Well, my parents were just the King and Queen," she said acting like that wasn't a big deal. "My grandma was actually a Queen too. But, she has a very interesting story," "Do tell me what it is, your grace," I asked hoping I ' wouldn't get thrown in the dungeon for asking her such a personal question. "Okay ify~u really must know. My grandma's name was Snow White. She was such a beautiful girl. With her ruby red lips, and her pale, snow skin. She was a princess. Her mother was Queen but past away along with her father. She was left with her evil stepmother. Her evil stepmother wanted Snow White killed because she wanted to be the most beautiful and fairest one of all. The Evil Queen sent her huntsman to kill her in the woods. He couldn't do it of course, because the huntsman was a very good man. He told her to run away as fast as she could as far away from the Queen as possible. She ran far, far, far away until she found a little cottage. She went inside to see if she could take shelter there for the night. She didn't find anyone there, so she thought it was a nice place to sleep. After cleaning up a little bit, she took a nap upstairs in some very tiny beds. When she awoke she found seven dwarfs hovering over her. They were very nice to her, and let her stay as long as she cleaned and cooked for them. Snow White made seven tiny, new friends that day." "Do you remember the huntsman?" the Queen asked. "Yes. What happened to him?" I asked. "The huntsman brought back the insides of a pig and faked them for Snow Whites. At first the Evil Queen believed him, but .. she soon found out that wasn't true. She made a plan to find Snow White and get rid of her herself with a poison apple. The Evil Queen' whipped up a disguise faster than you could say "apple pie." She found Snow White with the help of her magical mirror and sought out to give her the poison apple. She found the cottage and peeked through the window. She found Snow White cleaning for the dwarfs to surprise them when they got home. The Evil Queen knocked on the door and told Snow White that she picked this apple especially for the most beautiful girl in the land. Snow White was flattered and took a big bite. She dies of course. The dwarfs put her in a glass coffin and decorated it beautifully. A prince came by three days later, and kissed her. She arose from the dead, and they lived happily ever after." "Wait, hold up your majesty. What was the Evil Queen's real name?" "Gritnhilde I believe," she said trying to remember. I was trying to decide whether or not to tell the Queen, the one with all of the power, the one person who can kill me with a snap of her fingers, that the "Evil Queen" was tny grandmother. My hero, my role model, my grandma was the "Evil Queen". I knew what I had to do. I had to do the right thing. "Your majesty, there's something I need to tell you," I 'I "What is it Evie? Did you do something wrong with my hai.r? Oh no! Evie, did you do something wrong with my hair? Answer me!" "No, nothing is wrong with your hair, it's as glamorous as ever" ' "Oh good, I was very worried for a second there," "Any ways, I need to tell you something," "Okay, go on with it then," ·"Well, HOW COULD YOU INSULT MY GRANDMOTHER LIKE THAT?" I screamed a loud enough for the Queen to hang me right there on the spot.
