Terna: Authorisation Process Launched for Restructuring the Electricity Grid in the Province of Teramo TERNA: AUTHORISATION PROCESS LAUNCHED FOR RESTRUCTURING THE ELECTRICITY GRID IN THE PROVINCE OF TERAMO • Notice published regarding property involved in the project • Restructuring will improve security and efficiency of the local electricity grid Rome, 6 February 2019 – Terna has launched the authorisation process for restructuring the electricity grid in the province of Teramo. In line with applicable legislation, it has published the list of parcels relative to property involved by project in local papers. The restructuring will improve the security and efficiency of the local electricity system and is required to guarantee greater continuity of supply in the area between Teramo and Pescara. This is particularly important in coastal areas during the summer months, when electricity consumption increases notably. The works include upgrading the Teramo substation, a new 132 kV power line between Cellino Attanasio and Roseto degli Abruzzi, and three connections in underground/overhead cable between the Teramo substation and the Villavalle – Villanova, Isola Gran Sasso – C.P.Teramo, and Cellino Attanasio – Golden Lady power lines. The project will involve the municipalities of Teramo, Basciano, Montorio al Vomano, Cellino Attanasio, Morro D’Oro, Atri and Roseto degli Abruzzi. Once restructuring of the electricity grid is complete, it will be possible to demolish around 7 km of old power lines in the municipalities of Teramo, Basciano and Montorio al Vomano. The owners of the parcels involved in the project may view the project or submit written observations within 30 days of publication of the notice, sending these to the Ministry of Economic Development, the Ministry of the Environment and the Protection of Land and Sea, and Terna Rete Italia S.p.A. ([email protected]). .

Overall most of this legacy – but not all – is to be found in the mountains, where the landscapes and ecosystems change according to altitude, shifting from typically Mediterranean milieus to outright alpine scenarios, with mugo pine groves and high-altitude steppe. Of all the Apennine regions, Abruzzo is distinctive for its prevalently mountainous nature, with two thirds of its territory found at over 750 metres in altitude. This is due to the unique way that the Apennine develops in its central section, where it continues to proceed along the peninsula’s

Danubio3 1 Department of Animal and Human Biology, University »La Sapienza«, Rome, Italy 2 Department of Methods, Economics and Territory, University of Teramo, Teramo, Italy 3 Department of Environmental Studies, University of L'Aquila, L'Aquila, Italy ABSTRACT The seasonality of 27,705 marriages celebrated in a four century span in the Province of Teramo (Abruzzo, Italy) was analyzed to identify the presence of a long-term pattern re- lated to the prevailing subsistence activity and the main factors affecting it. The results show general agreement in all centuries with the agricultural patterns of other lowland or south-central Italian groups (Piedmont, Veneto, Liguria, Emilia Romagna, Tuscany, Latium, Campania, Apulia) and Mediterranean regions (Spain, France), although with some differences. Religious factors strongly affected the timing of marriage only during Lent. Of interest is the progressive increase through the centuries of marriages in the summer-autumn months, associated with a decrease in January and February. This suggests the passage from a summer migration system to a rural sedentary system with occasional seasonal work. Introduction tionship between the population and its environment5,6. • Space and Time Evolution of the Abruzzo Precipitation Bruno Di Lena1*, Fernando Antenucci1, Luigi Mariani2
Space and time evolution of the Abruzzo precipitation Bruno Di Lena1*, Fernando Antenucci1, Luigi Mariani2 Abstract: This study assesses the climate trends of precipitation in a large number of locations in the Abruzzo region for the period 1951-2009. It highlights the reduction of annual precipitation, starting in 1980, due to a significant decrease in winter rainfall amount. This phenomenon seems to be the mesoscale realisation of a more general process that concerns the European area as the result of the new configuration of the Atlantic circulation that has been established through the ’80 years of the 20th century. Keywords: Precipitation, trend, climate change, Westerlies, Abruzzo. INTRODUCTION In the last fifteen years of the XXth century, Euro- One of the main factors that determine the Mediterranean area has been affected by an European climate is the general atmospheric abrupt climatic change due to a re-configuration circulation (Fig. 1) which advects toward our of the Westerlies trajectories.
