SHINING BRIGHT AT THE WHYALLA SHOW JORDAN GODFREY The Whyalla Show is a great community event and provides opportunities for Sunrise to serve and support the people in Whyalla every year. The new television commercial for Sunrise Christian School Whyalla progressed to a whole new level, with the beautifully produced commercial echoing the sentiment of the School offering and community, built from a solid marketing strategy. Our own Whyalla students, families and teachers featured in the advert, with the aim to communicate the strong sense of family and community connection, and our educational confidence to the Whyalla community. The ad has been a hit, and the results speak for themselves with 95% of people who have seen the ad thinking it was great! The TV commercial is set for prime time viewing and aired for the first time on the 18th August ahead of the Sunrise Morning Show, and continues through to 2018. WHYALLA STUDENTS JET OFF TO CANBERRA

KITCHEN GARDEN EXPANSION

Our Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program is going from strength to strength. Through a community grant program supported by the Rotary Club of Whyalla and our parent group, we are planning a large greenhouse to support a new hydroponic venture. Sustainability in education is a big part of our Kitchen Garden Program and this new plan will help us to achieve this more effectively. Sunrise Christian School, Marion Campus is providing new and exciting pathways to prepare students for life beyond secondary school. A variety of courses are now on offer and can be studied via a partnership with other agencies and Registered Training Organisations. This year, we have seen students undertaking a broad selection of Certificate courses including Early Childhood Education, Fashion Design, Building Construction, and even Web Game Design. We work with students and families connecting them with various providers such as TAFE SA, the SA Institute of Sport, Colour Cosmetica and Foundation Education.

We also partner with Flinders University, through an Extension Studies program, which provides a taste of university life for high-achieving senior school students.
