Please keep this booklet readily available to reference and use throughout the calendar year to assist you with your planning to be involved in SACSA’s sporting programs. PHILOSOPHY AND RATIONALE ▪ The South Australian Christian Schools Association exists primarily to give its member schools the opportunity for participation in the sports offered within this document. ▪ The aims of SACSA Sport are to promote and develop Christian community within its member schools and to witness to each other and the wider community an authentic faith. Such an approach primarily emphasises the following aspects of sporting competition: o The pleasure of both individual and team participation. o The cognitive, aesthetic, expressive, physical, cultural and social benefits for each individual involved. o The cultivation of the most important character qualities and attitudes; principally good sportsmanship, persistence, courage and commitment. GUIDING PRINCIPLES ▪ SACSA desire is to promote broad participation in sport as part of the curriculum in all Christian Schools in South Australia and undertake to increase the quality and quantity of such activities within existing school frameworks. ▪ SACSA aims to provide avenues for the development for students who show ability in sports, with representative opportunities existing at both the local and national level. ▪ SACSA’s main aim is to develop the collective spirit of unity, cooperation and friendship, in a positive, fun filled structured environment. SACSA sport is characterised by fun, enjoyment, participation, competition, challenge, character development and social interaction. SACSA is highly committed to establishing a wholesome competition structure so that children and young adults can benefit from their experiences. ▪ Wholesome competition that is commensurate with the age, interest and ability of each child emphasises participation rather than winning or losing. ▪ Competition exists in the daily life of every child in sport and in most aspects of life. ▪ Competition provides stimulation and challenges as well as the opportunity to apply, test and further develop skills in a game situation. Students should be satisfied with competing to the best of their ability and spectator behaviour should reflect this emphasis. ▪ Participation, developmental experience and enjoyment are the intrinsic goals of competitive sport in primary and secondary schools.     Member School Directory JJJanuaryJanuary 2008 Member School Directory Introduction The Association of Independent Schools of South Australia (AISSA) represents the interests of Independent (non-Catholic) schools in South Australia. Our membership consists of 95 schools, plus seven campuses linked to a registered school. We believe passionately in Independent schooling and the right of parents to exercise choice in the selection of a school for their children. Independent schools acknowledge the importance of: > Excellence and high education standards > Social, physical, spiritual and emotional development of each student > Strong links with the broader community (local, national and international) > Provision of safe, positive and orderly learning environments > Comprehensive programs of pastoral care > Development of social responsibility and citizenship. All Independent schools are registered by the Non-Government Schools Registration Board and are required to employ registered teachers. Each school is subject to legislation and regulations such as child protection, OHS&W, anti-discrimination, building regulations, government funding compliance requirements, and industrial relations. Most schools are affiliated with a particular religion; others are secular. Several schools base their curriculum on a particular educational philosophy (e.g. Montessori, Waldorf Steiner). Ten schools have boarding facilities. The option of either single sex or co-education is available. Many schools also provide pre-school and out-of school hours care services. The source of funding for Independent schools includes the Commonwealth and State governments and parents. The level of Government funding per student varies across each Independent school. Some capital works funding is provided by the Commonwealth Government; this complements the significant funds provided by parents and others in the school community.

Answer Funding under the Australian Education Act 2013 (the Act) is determined at the Approved Authority (AA) level where an AA represents one or more schools. The Schooling Resource Standard (SRS) is based on total public funding only (that is, Commonwealth and state or territory recurrent funding). The following table shows a theoretical estimate of the total public funding and Commonwealth funding as a projected percentage of the SRS for each approved authority in 2016 and 2017 if current arrangements under the Act and National Education Reform Agreement (NERA) were to continue. The total public funding estimate assumes that state and territory funding has been provided as envisaged by the Act and NERA, however, only three states have signed bilateral agreements that commit to providing these funds. For the current schools funding period (2014‒2017) the Australian Government agreed to pay all states on the same basis as if they had signed bilateral agreements under the NERA to be fully participating in accordance with the Act. Projected SRS percentages are presented on this basis.

Meeting adversity and dealing with adversity is part of everyone‘s life journey, it is rare that we all as a community face adversity together as we are now in confronting COVID-19. COVID has interrupted lives for most and decimated and torn apart lives for others. The volunteering and philanthropy that underpins Story Dogs leaps forth from our abundance of spirit, time and financial capacity. These times question our capacity to give and trigger in most off us a defensive and self-protective approach to our life. We understand this is and accept this as the circumstances of the current time we have to live with and adjust to. The Strongest message that we as the Story Dog board wish to say to our volunteers and partners now is that: “you know your personal circumstances the best.” If you believe volunteering puts your health at risk - do not volunteer wait and volunteer when you decide the risk is behind you. If contributing funds to Story Dogs is currently beyond your means then please don’t - simply tell us that is not within your capability now.

    Non-Government Reform Support (Reform Support Fund) 2018 Work Plan AISSA - Non-Government Reform Support Fund Work plan 2018 Non-Government Reform Support Fund AISSA – Work Plan 2018 Summary of Work Plan for 2018 The Association of Independent Schools of SA (AISSA) is committed to utilising the Reform Support Fund to meet the objectives of the fund and provide ongoing support to schools to sustain improvement and innovation. This work plan provides details on how the AISSA will utilize the Reform Support Fund to support the SA Independent sector and SA Independent schools with: Quality assurance and support for the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with a Disability; The implementation and delivery of an online National Assessment Program (including NAPLAN); Improving governance and financial management practices; Improving quality teaching and learning; Enhancing school leadership; Meeting student need; Innovation in education. A model of support has been established by the AISSA for the sector which embeds a continuous improvement approach as well as a focus on innovation. The AISSA’s Senior Educational Consultants have been allocated to work strategically with school leadership teams to develop bespoke improvement practices that meet the contextual and cultural needs of individual schools, having regard to the objectives that underpin the Reform Support Fund. This is supported by a school improvement tool developed by the AISSA. In addition, Senior Educational Consultants and Educational Consultants will continue to offer expert assistance in areas including the Australian Curriculum, AITSL Standards, South Australian Certificate of Education (SACE), literacy, numeracy, gifted education, special education, STEM, digital and design technologies, and transitioning from early childhood education to school.

    ACTIVE AFTER-SCHOOL COMMUNITIES (AASC) program National Netball participation report – 2011 - 2012 Prepared: 2012 By: Kym McMahon, NSO Liaison Manager Page 1 of 47 Background The Active After-school Communities (AASC) program has been delivering sport and physical activity programs to primary school aged children across Australia for more than seven years. Over the past few years, the program has had an increased focus to engage with local, state and national sporting bodies and develop strategies to promote continued participation in sport. This report provides a snapshot of quantitative data relevant to netball programs during the 2011 - 2012 financial year. Each semester, schools and Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) services involved in the AASC program identify the sports and physical activities they would like delivered to the children participating within the program. The AASC program is committed to promoting Australian Sport Commission (ASC) participation funded and recognised sports for delivery. Figure one shows the percentage of AASC programs delivered by ASC funded and recognised sports, while figure two indicates the percentages of ASC participation funded sport programs delivered.
