In other words, the legacy of World War II is still rippling through world events and influ- encing history. Even though the war ended 75 years ago, and its warriors are down to a relative handful, the world is still de- fined in many ways by what they accomplished. Much of what remains from the war is obvious: rusted tanks on lonely Pacific islands or crum- bling pillboxes above French beaches.
