Hand off - Handing the ball forward behind the line of scrimmage to a backfield player. Lateral pass - A pass that is thrown sideways or back toward the passers goal. Can be used anywhere on the field. Down - A dead ball. A team has four downs to try to get a touchdown before the ball must be turned over to the other team. The ball is placed where the flag is pulled off the offensive player, not where it is thrown. Interception - A pass from a quarterback that is caught by a member of the opposing team.

    Big 12 Conference Schools Raise Nine-Year NFL Draft Totals to 277 Alumni Through 2003 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Apr. 26, 2003 DALLAS—Big 12 Conference teams had 10 of the first 62 selections in the 35th annual NFL “common” draft (67th overall) Saturday and added a total of 13 for the opening day. The first-day tallies in the 2003 NFL draft brought the number Big 12 standouts taken from 1995-03 to 277. Over 90 Big 12 alumni signed free agent contracts after the 2000-02 drafts, and three of the first 13 standouts (six total in the first round) in the 2003 draft were Kansas State CB Terence Newman (fifth draftee), Oklahoma State DE Kevin Williams (ninth) Texas A&M DT Ty Warren (13th). Last year three Big 12 standouts were selected in the top eight choices (four of the initial 21), and the 2000 draft included three alumni from this conference in the first 20. Colorado, Nebraska and Florida State paced all schools nationally in the 1995-97 era with 21 NFL draft choices apiece. Eleven Big 12 schools also had at least one youngster chosen in the eight-round draft during 1998. Over the last six (1998-03) NFL postings, there were 73 Big 12 Conference selections among the Top 100. There were 217 Big 12 schools’ grid representatives on 2002 NFL opening day rosters from all 12 members after 297 standouts from league members in ’02 entered NFL training camps—both all-time highs for the league. Nebraska (35 alumni) was third among all Division I-A schools in 2002 opening day roster men in the highest professional football configuration while Texas A&M (30) was among the Top Six in total NFL alumni last autumn.

    2020 NFL DRAFT SCOUTING REPORT JANUARY 15, 2020 2020 NFL Draft Scouting Report: QB Joe Burrow, LSU *Our QB grades can and will change as more information comes in from Pro Day workouts, leaked Wonderlic test results, etc. We will update ratings as new info becomes available. Is there anyone speaking out against Joe Burrow as a top QB prospect? Does anyone even doubt that he’s the #1 pick in the draft (not necessarily admitting he’s the best player, just that he will be the #1 pick)? So, what more could I add to the Burrow lovefest of 2020? If I say that I’m very much a Burrow fan for the next level, pro-Burrow as a scout – well then there’s some intrigue taken out of this report already. Just another guy singing Burrow’s praises, big deal! However, despite any desire I might have to surprise you with a controversial take on Burrow, I’m just not finding any reason for a controversial, contrarian call for him as a bust. Not at all. The only real intrigue remaining with Burrow, for scouts and fans – just how good is Joe Burrow? As I was researching background for this report, I was watching some media segments and commentary, post-National Title game. One that caught my eye/ear was Colin Cowherd trying to classify/comp Burrow. He had top CFB analyst Joel Klatt on his show, and Klatt, in full seriousness, compared Burrow to Joe Montana… which makes some sense the more you think of it. The following day, on his show, Cowherd compared Burrow to Tony Romo…a quarterback Colin holds in high regard, so it was a nice comp, even if not quite as glowing as Klatt’s Montana call.

    FOOTBALL TEST REVIEW SHEET 1. In order for a touchdown to be counted, the ball must cross the goal line, not just the player. 2. The team can score 2 extra points if they return a blocked extra point. 3. The distance of a football field is 100 yds. 4. 4th down is considered a punting down. The punting down is when you fail to get a first down. 5. To get a first down, a player must move the ball 10 yds. 6. The team receives 3 pts for a field goal. 7. Each team is given 6 timeouts per game; Three each half. 8. The quarterback is an offensive player. 9. The kick after the touchdown is called the extra point; it is worth 1 pt. 10. When a receiver is hit by grabbing the jersey or being pushed while running, while trying to catch a pass, it is called pass interference. 11. When the player returning the punt waves their hand in the air, it is called a fair catch. 12. When a game ends in a tie, it goes into overtime. 13. Each quarter lasts 12 mins. 14. A reception is when the ball is caught on offense. 15. An interception is when the defense catches the ball. 16. When a punt is blocked, it can be advanced for a touchdown. 17. Three major penalties are holding, clipping, and a personal foul. 18. There are 11 players on the field at one time for each team. 19. If the defense recovers a fumble in the offenses end zone, it is a touchdown.
