RHYS: Come on. GWEN: There. They find that the trances were triggered by phone calls, all of which were made from a number that hadn't been active for over 30 years. He's just the same. Gwen clears her throat. GWEN: Mm-hmm. Absolutely loved this one - with Jack out of action it gives the other cast time to shine. Not this time. Oct 24, Child Deirdre rated it really liked it. We have to see where this takes us next. But we've looked after you, haven't we, Gillian? Why do you think they never saw the hurricane coming, back in the Eighties? Length: 43 mins. Team Torchwood. Please help improve it by removing unnecessary details and making it more concise. But not thirty years ago. And for that, there is absolutely no cure. They missed the boat. I just LOVE when Rhys shows up, because Torchwood with three people just does not work when two third are not functioning properly. Big Finish: Dissected. It's a dead line. Assuming it is a prank call, Bob chastises the caller; only to collapse on the floor. GWEN: But why do you think the thunderstorm had anything to do with what happened? Jan 05, Inez rated it really liked it Shelves: reread , tardis , audio. Torchwood: The Dead Line Writer Reviews - Please select the tabs below to change the source of reviews. Sound effects and superb writing, not to mention voice acting, make it easy to picture the action almost as clearly as seeing it on screen. Therefore some of scenes felt rushed. One day, you'll go again, just like you did before, and this time you won't be back. Doctor Who Miscellaneous. Views Total views. Torchwood: Exit Wounds. JAN: You don't look like doctors. Phone ring stopped. He collapses upon hearing the strange ticking noise on the other end. There are no discussion topics on this book yet. Jaime Indistinct voices over tannoy. Welcome back. Escape the Present with These 24 Historical Romances. JACK: Trendy? Torchwood: Everything Changes. They missed the boat. Return to Book Page. Jack Harkness. It could be Ally. JACK: Yeah. Cancel Save. The younger ones. Why do you think they never saw the hurricane coming, back in the Eighties? Transcribed by David Tait. The whole phone network? Torchwood: Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang. And, adding that it was a type of "virus" also connected to the use of computer software in today's world. The cast per usual performs superbly in all regards. I downloaded this for a quick Torchwood fix and was not disappointed! Phone ringing in background. A great Torchwood case and would have made a great actual episode for tv. I need to put this phone somewhere safe. I listen to this one over and over - the script is awesome, and the acting was, of course, perfect. I just wasn't feeling this story. GWEN: phone Listen to me. GWEN: What's what? Jan 05, Inez rated it really liked it Shelves: reread , tardis , audio. GWEN: phone Rhys, it's me. Mysterious phone-calls are sending people into death-like comas. Holy cow! At the hospital, bleeps of life support machinery in the background. Highly recommended for all Torchwood fans - though some familiarity with the characters and basic premise of the show is necessary, as not a lot of time is spent explaining things. Try Now. Torchwood: The Dead Line Reviews And Jack saved my life, and yours. Learn more. JAN: Bob? Enlarge cover. He mentions a junior doctor he dated back in , Stella Courtney, and that he still checks in to see if she's okay. The actor was great, but I don't like the character himself. Stella suggests that there is nothing physically wrong with Jack to cause his condition, that an electrochemical reaction to what came down the phone line is what has entranced him and the others. But I check her out once in a while, make sure she's okay. But Ianto's pain at seeing Jack in a trance-like state was unbearable. The part where Ianto opens up and tells Jack how he really feels and the possibility of loosing him one day was heartbreaking. Two oh five nine led us here. Watched your eyes moving behind your eyelids as you dreamed. All old phones ring at the same time. Phone still in his hand. After a series of violent and seemingly unrelated deaths, the solution to a riddle seems to point the finger of blame at Captain Jack Harkness. RHYS: Stay off the phone? GWEN: I'm sorry. And for that, there is absolutely no cure. We're not just waiting. Sort order. Mr Paul Eyre Torchwood: The Dead Line Read Online Not till you wake up Jack. September 24th was the end of the longest drought across Wales in three hundred years. Torchwood novels and audiobooks. This is a 'short story' being only 45 minutes long, and as such the solution feels a little rushed. Torchwood: Random Shoes. In Submission by Ryan Scott, the Torchwood team find themselves at the mercy of a hungry alien at the bottom of the sea He hasn't aged a day. Erratic bleeping from the instruments. I don't want to see you lying there too, Rhys. Not the best of the lot in terms of story, but pretty good in terms of character interactions and development, and it's good to hear Rhys join Jack, Gwen and Ianto in this adventure. Add links. I'm running a haulage operation. JAN: How could this happen? In bed - covers rustling. When Gwen and Rhys return to the hospital, more cases of people collapsing are occurring, and after regrouping with Ianto and Stella; they devise a way to combat the problem. JACK: Haven't seen her in years. Phone ring stopped. Adding to library failed. Torchwood: Rendition. If it weren't for the continual crying that would occur, I would honestly listen to this on repeat. She was beautiful. Stripped out and sold on. Why I didn't ring you? I thought we could tell Ianto and Gwen about the Seventies. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you? But I thought he was indestructible, like Captain Scarlet , or something". Now he's in this trance, like he's dead with his eyes open. Gwen phones Rhys at work, warning him against using phones and rejoins Ianto and Jack inside the Hub, where Jack has accumulated all the phones involved in the cases across Cardiff. Screwing Aliens and Screwing with Aliens: Torchwood slashes The Doctor. Richard Berger The Centre for Excellence in Media Practice. Bournemouth University Poole Dorset BH12 5BB + 44 (0)1202) 961622. [email protected] Biography. I am currently Reader in Media & Education at the Centre for Excellence in Media Practice, Bournemouth University, UK. I am programme leader for the Masters in Creative & Media Education and I coordinate pedagogic research in the Media School at Bournemouth. My other research interests include the adaptation of literature, comic books and videogames to film and television as well as blogging, fanfic, and other forms of personal expression online. In addition I am an experienced broadcaster and journalist for BBC Online and BBC Radio, a regular contributor to the independent film magazine, The Big Picture, and co-editor of The Media Research Journal. Screwing Aliens and Screwing with Aliens: Torchwood slashes The Doctor. In summer 2004 an independent study of the BBC’s web provision was published. The Graf Report stated for the first time that the BBC’s web content should be now viewed as the corporation’s third medium – alongside radio and television. In addition the report put the case for what it called ‘360 degree commissioning’ whereby content was produced across the BBC’s platforms, simultaneously. The effect was almost immediate, with the BBC shutting down some of its many websites and reorganizing its new media division as elements of existing departments, rather than an adjunct to radio and television output. At the same time discussions were already underway for the revival of a television franchise which had been largely ignored for 16 years, despite having an almost fanatical following.
