The session will also provide the opportunity for attendees to provide feedback on MGA regulations and input on development of further change management tools. 3:00 p.m. Break 3:15 p.m. Education Session: The Municipal Role in Regulating Cannabis This session will provide a legal perpective on what municipalities need to do to implement and regulate cannabis legalization in their communities. 4:15 p.m. Closing Remarks 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Networking session sponsored by Reynolds Mirth Richards and Farmer – Foyer of Salons 8, 9, and 10 Thursday, March 15 7:00 a.m. Registration and Buffet Breakfast – Salons 11 and 12 8:00 a.m. AUMA President’s Report 8:30 a.m. Executive Committee Dialogue Session 8:45 a.m. Education Session: Welcoming and Inclusive Communities This session will explore the experiences, challenges and myths about refugees that resettle in Alberta. Participants will also here how municipalties can take action to support refugees to integrate in the community. 9:45 a.m. Break 10:00 a.m. Education Session: Community Power Generation This session will provide an overview of Community Generation, its potential, and its challenges. Presenters will discuss work already being done, the ongoing policy challenges, and opportunities for municipal ownership. 11:00 a.m. Education Session: Regulations and Bylaws for Cannabis Legalization This session will provide an overview of the new cannabis regulations, the AGLC licensing process for cannabis retailers, and municipal responsibilities in this process. It will also share information on how the Town of Olds has worked with Sundial Growers and adjusted land-use bylaws to enable medical cannabis production and promote local ecomomic development. 12:00 p.m. Lunch – Salons 11 and 12 12:30 p.m. Dialogue Session with Jason Kenney, Opposition Leader 1:00 p.m. Education Session: Solid Waste Management Our members have identified that solid waste management is an ongoing priority for them. AUMA is currently working with our partner, i.e. Recycle Council of Alberta (RCA), in lobbying the provincial government to renew and modernize Alberta's recycling framework. RCA is presenting on the history, challenges, and opportunities of Alberta's recycling system.
