Summary: Siphonophores collected in Chilean Patagonian fjords, between the Gulf of Penas and the Trinidad Channel in 2008 were analysed. A total of 12 species were recorded, of which Muggiaea bargmannae, Lensia subtilis, Praya dubia and Sphaeronectes fragilis were identified for the first time in this sector of the Patagonian fjords. M. bargmannae represents a new record for the southeastern Pacific. The most abundant species were Muggiaea atlantica (78.6%), Lensia conoidea (8.7%) and Dimophyes arctica (8.5%). M. atlantica, the dominant species, showed high densities in both oceanic and interior waters. L. conoidea and D. arctica, on the other hand, were principally collected in interior waters. M. atlantica was col- lected in less saline (<30), more oxygenated (6-7 mL L–1) shallow strata (0-50 m), while L. conoidea and D. arctica were collected below 50 m depth in more saline (30-33) and less oxygenated (4-6 mL L–1) waters. The eudoxids of these species followed the same horizontal and vertical distribution patterns as their polygastric stages. -

During “Huinay Fiordos”-expeditions between 2005 and 2014 benthic Decapoda (Crustacea: Malacostraca) were collected down to 40 m depth using minimal inva- sive sampling methods. The 889 specimens were attributed to 54 species. The in- fraorder Brachyura was the most speciose with 27 species, followed by Anomura with 18 species, Caridea with 8 species and Dendrobranchiata with one species. Taxonomic examination was complemented by in-situ photo documentation and close-up pictures with extended depth of field taken from sampled individuals showing the species-specific features. Faunistic data was evaluated with location maps and sample localities are discussed according to existing literature, often resulting in the extension of known distribution ranges of various species. -

Although demersal finfish fisheries are currently in full exploitation in the area, the Brunt–Vais¨ al¨ a¨ frequency fjords south of 471S have been poorly investigated. Two bio-oceanographic cruises carried out in austral 0 Maurolicus parvipinnis spring 1996 and 2008 between 471S and 50109 S were utilized to investigate the spatial distribution of Sprattus fuegensis fish eggs and larvae. Small differences in the environmental conditions were identified in the top 200 m of the water column between years (5.3–10.5 1C and 0.7–33.9 units of salinity in October 1996; 6.3–11.5 1C and 1.2–34.2 units of salinity in November 2008). -

E-mail: [email protected] SUMMARY: The distribution of decapod crustaceans in the southernmost areas of South America and the Antarctic is assessed considering the Magellan Biogeographic Province instead of the antiboreal region. Possible associations between decapod crustaceans from the Magellan Biogeographic Province and those from the Antarctic region are analysed. Species records were assigned to seven geographic regions that were clustered using multivariate analyses based on species pres- ence/absence and Bray-Curtis similarity. The results showed two well-established clusters, one of which included the Pacif- ic and Atlantic areas of the Magellan Province, the southern tip of South America and the Kerguelen Arc islands, with the highest similarity between the southern tip and the Atlantic area. Another cluster was well separated and included the Antarctic and South Georgia with the highest similarity index. Earlier studies and results obtained here suggest that the fau- nas of southern Chile and southern Argentina are biogeographically related. -

En cuanto a los decápodos (langostinos, camarones, maruchas, muy-muyes, langostas, ermita- ños, centollas y cangrejos) se incluyen 267 especies de las 403 registradas para Perú, correspondiéndole 15 especies a langostas, 73 especies a los anomuros y 179 especies a los braquiuros. About the decapods (shrimps, prawns, mud-shrimps, mole crabs, lobsters, hermit crabs, king crabs and crabs) there 403 species recorded, fom these 267 are included in the key. Among the decapods from the 15 species of lobsters, 73 species of anomurans, and 179 species of brachyurans. Tales asociaciones, sin embargo, no necesariamente perduran a lo largo de su ontogenia. Por ejemplo, en observaciones de terreno se ha encontrado una fuerte asociación entre la jaiba herbívora Taliepus dentatus y las algas pardas. Sin embargo, individuos recién asentados y juveniles se encuentran sólo en parches del alga parda Glossophora kunthii, mientras que los individuos adultos de la población se encuentran más frecuentemente asociados al huiro submareal Lessonia trabeculata.
