Noviembre 11 es el aniversario del armisticio, firmado en los bosques de Compiegne, Francia, por los aliados y los alemanes en 1918 dando por terminada la Primera Guerra Mundial, después de cuatro años de conflicto. 87 años después, los veteranos de esa y otras guerras fueron honrados en una breve ceremonia llevada a cabo en el Senior Center, el viernes, 11 de noviembre, 2005. El Alcalde Michael J. Sullivan usó la oportunidad para anunciar que el estadio (Veterans Memorial Stadium), el cual está siendo reparado a un costo de siete millones de dólares, pronto será reabierto y puesto a buen uso.
