The Ben Davis “Marching Giants” are 14 time Indiana State Marching Band Champions. Major performances have included seven appearances in the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade, King Kamehameha Parade in Honolulu, HI, Orange Bowl, Fiesta Bowl, Sugar Bowl, Cotton Bowl, and numerous Indianapolis 500 Festival Parades. The Ben Davis Band has played for 6 of our United States Presidents, including 2 inaugural parades. The Ben Davis Band has been a National Finalist at the Bands of America Grand National Championships, and was awarded the Al Castronovo Esprit De Corps Award at the 2000 Bands of America Grand National Championship. The Marching Giants performed at Pearl Harbor Hawaii during Spring break 2014. The 2014 production of “Mythic Energy” was composed and designed by David Glyde, Vince Oliver, Gary Rudolph, Greg Hagen, and Ken Karlin. .

The award, named for the winningest coach in NFL history, was created to honor exemplary high school football coaches for their character and integrity, leadership and dedication to the community, commitment to player health and safety and on-field success. The announcement was made during the 2018 Pro Bowl on ESPN. Nominees for the Don Shula Award from all 32 clubs were invited and recognized in special ways during the NFL’s week-long celebration of football at the Pro Bowl in Orlando. Nominated by the Los Angeles Chargers, Coach Garrett was one of two high school football coaches selected as finalists from a group of coaches nominated by NFL teams. All physical examination forms that are to be used for the 2021-22 athletic seasons must be dated after April 1, 2021. Physical examinations administered by the doctors and staff of IU Health Athletes should arrive at the time that is scheduled for their class. Arriving before the schedule time will increase the amount of time that an athlete will have to wait in line. Each athlete who participates in this physical examination must have the personal information, medical history, student signature and parent consent portions of the examination form filled out before he/she enters the examination circuit. Athletes who will compete on a Ben Davis High School team are required to use one of the Ben Davis Pre-Participation Examination Forms and Ben Davis High School Student/ Parent Athletic Handbook that can be picked up at the Ben Davis Athletic Office and Main office beginning on April 1, 2021 This includes freshman competing on a high school team. Athletes must have a physical examination on record to par- ticipate in the summer conditioning programs. This rule was established by the principals of the Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference.
