VETS 24/7 Monday, September 23, BBC One Wales, 7.30pm

Vets 24/7 follows a week in the life of one of the largest veterinary practices in .

In the final episode, senior partner Dai Roberts gives 55-kilo French Mastiff dog Bronson a pedicure.

At the hospital, Charlie, an 11-year-old Boston Terrier hasn’t eaten for three days. Partner Gareth Field investigates a mysterious blockage and tries to get to the bottom of what Charlie’s got in his tummy.

Gwen Rees has been summoned to Llangennech to help Patch, a 26-year-old horse who’s become unsteady on her feet.

Dai also visits a guard dog training centre in Pontarddulais. He makes sure Gaynor’s animals have a rabies vaccination before they are given a new home. With past clients including racing driver Nigel Mansell CBE and corporate billionaires, her dogs could be going anywhere in the world.

MAX BOYCE’S BIG BIRTHDAY

On a very Welsh occasion, BBC Cymru Wales marks Max Boyce’s 70th birthday with a special celebratory programme, recorded in front of a live audience in Cardiff, including a host of rugby stars, past and present.

Max Boyce’s Big Birthday, hosted by John Inverdale, uncovers Max the performer and Max the man. The legendary Welsh comedian, singer and entertainer talks about the story of his life.

From his early days, enduring terrible working conditions in a pit, to his glory days recording Live at , Max shares some of his most treasured moments. In a career spanning 40 years, his songs have captured a changing Wales and enriched people’s lives both culturally and musically.

With archive extracts from Max’s television shows, the programme showcases some of the highlights of his distinguished career.

There are tribute performances by West End sensation Sophie Evans, singer Cerys Matthews and the next generation of performers, Only Boys Aloud. Stephen Morgan

THE INDIAN DOCTOR: THE GOLD RUSH Thursday, September 26, BBC One Wales, 9pm In the second episode of The Indian Doctor, the Thomas brothers set about recruiting villagers for New Trefelin by charming and bullying. Aled and Daf decide they need to do something big to stop Basil’s development plan but Robert surprises Prem by offering him a central role in their grand new scheme. Prem tells Owen that he cannot work in the mine any more because of his health, but a disbelieving Owen decides he needs a second opinion - from his new hero, Dr Robert. When an act of sabotage breaks the village’s calm, Basil Thomas wastes no time in telling Emlyn who he thinks is to blame. Sian decides that farmer Ceri might be worth ensnaring with her feminine charms - at least if he really has come into some unexpected money. Emlyn signs up for a new house in the development, but Megan is far from pleased. And they’re not the only couple to fall out when Prem confronts Kamini over a job offer in Robert’s new surgery. But Prem’s anger is cut short when he discovers that, against his advice, Owen has gone back to work underground - with disastrous results.
