    1 MA COMPARATIVE LITERATURE AND LINGUISTICS (Restructured Syllabus) As per the Regulation for the choice based Credit and Semester system in MA Programs Title of the program: Master of Arts in Comparative Literature and Linguistics. Nature of the program: Inter-disciplinary. Duration of the Program: Four Semesters (choice based course and credit system). Admission: Through Entrance Examination conducted by the University. COURSES AND CREDITS For the successful completion of the MA program the students should study 20 courses and achieve the credits fixed for the courses with the required percentage of attendance and a passing grade as per the regulation. Each course is designed for 4 credits. Total No. of Semesters: 4 Total No. of Courses: 20 Total No. of Teaching courses: 19 No. of Core courses: 13 No of electives to be taught: 4 Multidisciplinary courses (from other departments): 2 Total Credits of Teaching Courses: 76 Credits for dissertation in the 4th Semester: 4 Total Weight: 80 Credits (4 weights for each course) 2 Evaluation As per the regulations half of the credits will be valued internally by the department through continuous assessment and half of the credits will be evaluated through University level External examination. The evaluation is based on 9 point grading system. An average B- is the passing grade. If a student fails by getting F grade the candidate can repeat that course when it is offered subsequently. The College started functioning in 1982 and was first accredited in 2004 by NAAC. Today the college offers 8 UG and 6 PG Programmes. In addition to it, college runs 2 UGC sponsored Career Oriented add-on programmes and 2 certificate/diploma programmes. The College has nearly 1000 student comprising more that 800 UG and 200 PG students. More than 70% of students belong to minority communities. SC, ST, OBC and OEC students constitute above 40% of the total strength. For the last 4 years the average pass percentage for UG is 85 and that for PG is 80. Among the UG students, about 40% opt for PG courses .Almost 80% students secured various scholarships from Central/State Govt. agencies in the last 4 years. The College has a faculty strength of 54, of which 23 are permanent, 28 are Guest Lecturers and 3 are ad-hoc faculty. Among these, 7 have Ph.D. Degree and 2 have M.Phil. degree as the highest qualification. In the last five years, the faculty members have published 5 books, 91 papers in reputed national/ international journals including E- journals and 15 papers in conference proceedings. Since the last accreditation, we have undertaken 2 major research projects and 8 minor research projects with the financial support of various funding agencies.

Email: [email protected] INTRODUCTION: The nation like India, where diversity in every aspect of large scale population at extreme level and on other hand lack of formal education needs some important governmental steps to be taken. In that scenario government of India aimed ‘to train personnel and partly to discover what TV could achieve in community development and formal education’. Ahead for this UNESCO granted $ 20,000 and United States offered few equipments. Finally with this remarkable base Delhi television centre went on the air on 15th September 1959. After two years a survey was conducted to evaluate the impact of this, which showed some hope as the output. This successful experiment leaded towards a new start. By the end of the decade there were more than 200,000 TV sets in Delhi and neighbouring states. The Bombay centre was opened in 1972, followed by relay stations at Srinagar, Amritsar and Pune. After that Calcutta, Madras and Lucknow emerged on this map in 1975. Milestone year in Indian television industry took place in 1982, where The Asian Games were shown on colour television.
