"Emer will be a great addition to the Zips program," Herlihy said. "As a former National Team player and All-American collegiate player, she lives and breathes the game. She is excited to get started in her career with us here at Akron, and we are happy to have her."

As a senior, she started all 19 games, scoring two goals and an assist while anchoring the defense en route to the NCAA Sweet 16. She was also named to NSCAA All-American honors that year. As a junior, Flatley had a breakout season, anchoring a defense that posted a school record shutout streak of 11 consecutive games, and again reaching NCAA Sweet 16. The two-time team captain was named a Daktronics Honorable Mention All-American as a junior also.

A native of Galway, Ireland, Flatley earned a bachelor's degree in health and physical education from Slippery Rock in 2013.

Following graduation, the Dean's List student served as a volunteer student assistant coach at Slippery Rock for the 2013 season. In 2014, she worked as a division specialist with the Philadelphia Union Soccer Schools and was the varsity assistant coach at Holy Cross High School during the 2014 season.

Prior to her collegiate experience, Flatley played for the Irish Wom- en's International Team (U15/U17/U19), competing in more than 25 events in 12 countries throughout Europe.
