St. Henry has been in the playoffs 16 times and is 16-0 Entering the 2016 season, 70 OHSAA member schools had never in first-round playoff games. Cincinnati Colerain is 19-0, although made the football playoffs. That number shrunk by eight last week, one of its first-round games (1995) was later forfeited. Welcome Back Several schools are back in the playoffs this year after being out of the postseason for several years. The logest of which is by Barberton, which is back for the first time since 1998. In 2015, several schools made the playoffs after long abbsences, including Burton Berkshire (Div. V, Region 15, last appearance was in 1981), Holland Springfield (Div. II, Region 4, last appearance was in 1994) and Swanton (Div. V, Region 16, last appearance was in 1995). In 2013, Norwalk was back in the playoffs for the first time since winning a state championship in 1974.

Division II Finalists Continue to Be the New Kids on the Block When the OHSAA expanded the football playoffs to seven divisions in 2013 and made Division I smaller (including only the largest 72 schools in the state), one of the resulting effects was that many schools that used to be “small” Div. I schools were now in Div. II. Since then, many Div. II schools have made their schools’ deepest playoff runs. That began with Loveland in 2013 and continued with Cincinnati La Salle in 2014. Both schools not only won their first-ever playoff games those seasons, but went on to win the Div. II state title. That fact was evidenced again in 2015 as the Div. II state semifinalist Massillon Perry made its first appearance in the “final four.”

Before the Playoffs… Historians have found that in most years since 1895, the media or a specific organization named an Ohio high school football state cham- pion. The Associated Press began its polls in 1947 and the OHSAA created the playoffs in 1972. The research of mythical state champi- ons dating back to 1895 has been compiled on the football page at OHSAA.org. 2016 Regional Final Pairings and Schedule

Specializing in news and sports programming, Skyview Networks was formed in 1995 to provide broadcast services in the form of distribution, automation, and inventory management, as well as content for the radio industry. Com-bining cutting-edge technology, extensive resources and unmatched industry expertise, Skyview Networks is the partner of choice for advertisers, radio stations and sports organizations through- out North America.

Skyview Networks is already the satellite provider of the aforemen- tioned professional teams in Ohio along with ABC News Radio and ABC Sports Radio, meaning that most stations in Ohio already have Skyview Networks receivers and can automate the broadcasts.

The OHSAA Radio Network, which has been carried by 76 stations across Ohio, West Virginia and Kentucky, was created in 2010 to provide exceptional radio broadcasts of selected OHSAA state tournaments and partner with local affiliates to carry those broadcasts, along with public service announcements and promotional messages. Stations that carry broadcasts receive discounts or waivers for the rights fees they would normally pay to broadcast OHSAA regional and state tournaments.

Playoff Preview Show The OHSAA Radio Network will produce and distribute a football playoff preview show on Tuesday, Nov. 1. The 55 minute show will include two local breaks and will go around the state to preview each division. A link to the show will be emailed to stations for download. General Media Notes for Fall 2016
