The World to Come
THE WORLD TO COME Directed by Mona Fastvold *World Premiere - 2020 Venice International Film Festival - Competition* PRESS CONTACTS US Press: Emilie Spiegel, [email protected] Intl Press: Claudia Tomassini, [email protected] SYNOPSIS In this frontier romance framed by the four seasons and set against the backdrop of rugged terrain, Abigail (Katherine Waterston), a farmer’s wife, and her new neighbor Tallie (Vanessa Kirby) find themselves powerfully, irrevocably drawn to each other. As grieving Abigail tends to the needs of her taciturn husband Dyer (Casey Affleck) and Tallie bristles at the jealous control of her husband Finney (Christopher Abbot), both women are illuminated and liberated by their intense bond, filling a void in their lives they never knew existed. Director Mona Fastvold (The Sleepwalker, co-writer of CHILDHOOD OF A LEADER and VOX LUX) examines the interior lives of two women resisting constraints, giving voice to their experiences. Scripted by Jim Shepard and Ron Hansen (The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford), THE WORLD TO COME explores how isolation is overcome by the power of imagination and human connection. Q&A with Director Mona Fastvold First of all, tell me how the material came your way. It’s an interesting pairing of a novelist adapting a short story — was this a script that came to you fully formed? The script came to me from one of our producers, Whitaker Lader, who had seen my previous film. She and Casey had been developing the script with the screenwriters, Ron Hansen and Jim Shepard, for some time. I was immediately struck by it. -

Alien: Covenant
ALIEN: COVENANT In space, no one can hear you scream. After nearly four decades, those words remain synonymous with the sheer, relentless intensity of Ridley Scott’s masterpiece of futuristic horror, Alien. Now, the father of the iconic franchise returns once more to the world he created to explore its darkest corners with ALIEN: COVENANT, a pulse-pounding new adventure that pushes the boundaries of R-rated terror. All is quiet aboard the spaceship Covenant. The crew and the rest of the 2,000 souls aboard the pioneering vessel are deep in hyper-sleep, leaving the synthetic Walter to walk the corridors alone. The ship is en route to the remote planet Origae-6, where, on the far side of the galaxy, the settlers hope to establish a new outpost for humanity. The tranquility is shattered when a nearby stellar ignition shreds Covenant’s energy-collection sails, resulting in dozens of casualties and throwing the mission off course. Soon, the surviving crew members discover what appears to be an uncharted paradise, an undisturbed Eden of cloud-capped mountains and immense, soaring trees far closer than Origae- 6 and potentially just as viable as a home. What they’ve found, however, is actually a dark and deadly world full of unexpected twists and turns. Facing a terrible threat beyond their imagination, the embattled explorers must attempt a harrowing escape. Set ten years after the events depicted in Scott’s 2012 hit Prometheus, ALIEN: COVENANT returns to the roots of the director’s groundbreaking saga with a uniquely terrifying tale filled with white-knuckle adventure and monstrous new creatures. -

SOMEWHERE IN EUROPE—1926—NIGHT A large, isolated, derelict chateau emerges from the darkness. We focus on a cobbled square outside the building, shrouded in mist, eerie, silent. Five Aurors stand, wands aloft, tentative as they edge toward the chateau. A sudden explosion of pure white light sends them flying. We whip around to find their bodies scattered, lying motionless at the entrance to a large parkland. A figure (Grindelwald) enters the frame, his back to the camera; ignoring the bodies, he stares out into the night sky as we pan up toward the moon. MONTAGE: We see various magical newspaper headlines from 1926 relating to Grindelwald’s attacks all over the world: GRINDELWALD STRIKES AGAIN IN EUROPE, HOGWARTS SCHOOL INCREASES SECURITY, ANTI-WIZARD FEELING ON THE RISE, WHERE IS GRINDELWALD?, IS ANYONE SAFE? He’s a serious threat to the magical community and he’s vanished. Moving photos detail destroyed buildings, fires, screaming victims. The articles come thick and fast—the worldwide hunt for Grindelwald continues. We push in on a final article displaying the Statue of Liberty. TRANSITION TO: SCENE 2 EXT. Katherine Waterston Loves Dark Roles Like The Third Day 9/17/20, 2:53 PM Katherine Waterston Is Finally Not The One Going Through Hell Morgan Baila Photo: Jonathan Hordle/Shutterstock. Katherine Waterston might be one of Hollywood’s most humble performers. Usually a fan of darker roles, audiences might be surprised to hear just how casual and approachable the actor is in real life. As someone who has demonstrated every facet of a woman’s experience both on film and on stage, the real Waterston is genuinely chill. Maybe it’s because her 2015 big break in Paul Thomas Anderson’s Inherent Vice had her gamely talking about her nude scenes for months, or maybe it’s because she finds strenuous projects to be a “treat," but, in keeping with the character she https://www.refinery29.com/en-us/2020/09/9992154/katherine-waterston-third-day-career-roles Page 1 of 5 Katherine Waterston Loves Dark Roles Like The Third Day 9/17/20, 2:53 PM plays, nothing really fazes Waterston during a recent phone call about her role in HBO’s psychological thriller, The Third Day, premiering September 14. The show, set on the real-life Osea Island off the coast of Essex, is a dark and disturbing limited series which explores grief in all its iterations. It’s a heavy watch at times, especially for Waterston’s co-star, Jude Law, who plays Sam, a grieving and panic-stricken father. Waterston plays Jess, an academic with a PhD in the Essex witch trials studying the cultures of the fictionalized Osea Island. -

Inherent Vice: a Hidden Defect in a Good Or Property Which Causes Or Contributes to Its Deterioration, Damage, Or Wastage
PRODUCTION NOTES Inherent Vice: A hidden defect in a good or property which causes or contributes to its deterioration, damage, or wastage. These defects of an inherent nature make the item an unacceptable risk to a carrier or insurer. Examples of inherent vice include spontaneous combustion, rust, etc. -
Questione Di Tempo
Curtis ha cominciato ad affinare la sua voce come scrittore di show televisivi classici come Not the Nine O’Clock News, Blackadder, Mr Bean e The Vicar of Dibley.
