Respect: We will treat every relationship with respect and dignity. 3 Appendix A Policies w) 4131 Reduction in Force x) 5460 Graduation Requirements y) 6450 Local Purchasing z) 7540.01 Technology and Social Media BOARD OF EDUCATION CLASSIFIED STAFF LAKOTA LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT 4131/page 1 of 3 REDUCTION IN FORCE The Board reserves the right to reduce positions and to suspend the contracts of non-represented classified staff members as warranted. Reasons for such suspension may include, but are not limited to, the following: A. declining enrollment of students in the District, a particular program, a particular building or a particular grade level; B. the return of support staff from Board approved leaves of absence; C. a change in the financial condition of the District; D. other financial reasons that the Board, in its sole discretion, finds warrants a reduction in force; E. loss of funding for a particular program, project or grant; F. changes in the curriculum or academic program of the District based on financial reasons and/or declining enrollment; G. the reorganization of the academic structure of the District based on financial reasons and/or declining enrollment; H. territorial changes affecting the District; or I. actions necessitated or mandated by applicable law or regulation. Reductions shall be made through attrition to the extent possible. In lieu of suspending an entire contract, the Board may suspend the contract of a staff member in part and provide a level of compensation commensurate with the percentage of work performed. In making such reduction, the Board will suspend contracts in accordance with the recommendation of the Superintendent, who shall, within each job classification affected, give preference first to employees on continuing contract and then to employees on the basis of seniority. The alphabetical list below shall be considered job classifications for the purpose of this reduction in force policy. Consideration for these reductions are made on an individual basis not in this order. Such continuing contract employees whose contract has been suspended will not forfeit such right to restoration by reason of having declined recall to a position with fewer hours. BOARD OF EDUCATION CLASSIFIED STAFF LAKOTA LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT 4131/page 3 of 3 Recall rights are as delineated in the LSSA Master Agreement for bargaining unit members or the Ohio Revised Code, but only to the extent that such terms do not conflict with the requirements of OCR 3319.172 as described above. R.C. 3319.172 Adopted 2/11/13 BOARD OF EDUCATION STUDENTS LAKOTA LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT 5460/page 1 of 4 GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS In order to acknowledge each student's successful completion of the instructional program, appropriate to the achievement of District goals and objectives as well as personal proficiency, the Board of Education awards a diploma to eligible students at a graduation ceremony. The Board shall award a regular high school diploma to every student enrolled in this District who meets the requirements of graduation established by this Board or who properly completes the goals and objectives specified in his/her individualized education program (IEP) including either the exemption from or the requirement to complete the tests required by the State Board of Education in order to graduate. Each student must demonstrate, unless exempted, at least a proficient level of skill on the tests required by the State Board of Education to graduate. The requirements for graduation from high school include earning twenty (20) units of high school credit as follows: Subject Units Required English Language Arts 4 Health .5 Physical Education .5 Mathematics 4 (3 for 2013 graduates) students that entered ninth grade before the 2010-2011 school year) Science 3 Social Studies 3 Fine Arts, including music 1 Electives 4 (5 for 2013 graduates) students that entered ninth grade before the 2010-2011 school year) (including at least 1 whole unit, or 2 half units, in business/technology, fine arts, and/or foreign language) Students who have participated in interscholastic athletics, marching band, or cheerleading for at least two (2) full seasons as defined in the student handbook, while enrolled in grades 9 through 12, and as documented by the guidance counselor may be excused from the high school physical education requirement. © NEOLA 2009 BOARD OF EDUCATION STUDENTS LAKOTA LOCAL SCHOOL DISTRICT 5460/page 2 of 4 Students electing such an excuse shall complete one-half (1/2) unit of at least sixty (60)
